Big thanks to everyone who made it out to the showcase. Special thanks to The Get Down PDX for hosting and creating a dope space for musical artists to share their talents. Truly an honor to open up the night for Qbert & DJ Numark; two extremely talented DJ's and beat makers who have really inspired me and contributed so much to DJ culture and the art of Turntablism for over 2 decades and counting. When I started DJing in 2004 I would listen to Qbert live during his tours and collabs with Invisibl Skratch Piklz, I have bought countless dirt style records and spent many hours practicing my scratching techniques in the basement, but I never imagined I would be sharing a stage with him or DJ Numark who has been in the game representing Jurassic 5 for over twenty years. The amount of time these two have put into their craft is really what it looks like to merge your passion with your talent and bring it to an audience with crazy amounts of skill. Big Ups Q & Mark. Looking forward to more showcases like this. I love DJing and providing soundscapes for all types of dance environments, but plugging in the 12's and focusing an entire set on turntablism is def my favorite way to tell a story. 

This mix features some throwbacks and special beat selections from some of my favorite beat makers such as: JoeNora, Kinezo, Yung Mazarine, ETY, Tsruda, Rvdical The Kid, Shlump, Shigeto, Mikos, Mad Zach, The Fugee's, DJ Hype, Dead Prez, Deft, Supertask, Coubo, Yoffee, Franklin Phat Sacks, Enigma Beats, Gangus, Equalizer/Ghandi, Busta Rhymes and Thook as well as special selections and recorded samples from the archives.

A set I played for Portland Winter Light Festival @ Jaja pdx for a good friend (Jacque) of the Orca Sound System - a custom paraflex flexing the leds and pristine sound. Beautiful, tribal, and fierce... I cut out the last mix cuz it wasn't the best, but otherwise came out well.  Featuring tracks by Troyboi, Clozee, Presha, Dissolv, Atyya, Dysphemic, and so many more amazing artists...

The dragon symbolizes power, strength, and good fortune and represents royalty (the Emperor), wisdom, and prosperity. Meta Zen : a mission of healing through art.
Meta Zen is a multimedia art project comprising djing, music production, dancing, event production, visual art, photography, apparel, technological programming, poetry, and jewelry. Mauricio Zuniga was born in Costa Rica and started to DJ in 1996 while at University of Pennsylvania. He now resides in Portland, Oregon. Mauricio owned and built the psychedelic record shop, ChaosExistence.com. For 6 years, Chaos Existence was responsible for bringing some of the best electronic music to the Pacific Northwest as well as shipping it around the world. He has been an avid dj and dancer contributing to the community. He has also thrown many events bringing world class talent to the PNW. Most notably, Mauricio was responsible for bringing Tipper to the Phoenix Festival in the mid 2000’s and brought acts such as Drumspyder, Kalya Scintilla, Desert Dwellers, Bird of Prey for the first time to Portland, Oregon. Mauricio currently worked with Rose Entertainment and Mettā, throwing premiere events continuing to bring cutting edge music. He was nominated by his team as a Rose Entertainment resident DJ. Mauricio's projects draw from a well of diverse sounds. Mauricio likes to weave together unique soundscapes - using the art of storytelling. He has a unique signature from his experiences. He has shared the stage and and opened for world class talent such as Tipper, the Disco Biscuits, Hallucinogen, Younger Brother, Eat Static, Infected Mushroom, Zebblar Encanti Experience, Andreilien, Mr. Bill, Shulman, Bluetech, Hive, Dysphemic, Soulacybin, Spoken Bird, Stylust Beats, Buku, Sixis, Goopsteppa, Soohan, David Starfire, Desert Dwellers and many others. Meta Zen has played for several festivals, in many states, and across continents and is most excited to still be innovating and pushing his dj sound with his live mashups, remixes, and harmonic mixing.
