During the process, I found myself drawn to more organic elements! Instruments, textured layers, and subtle melodies that could live within the structure of techno but also stretch beyond it. I wanted every track to feel alive, to breathe, to carry a human touch beneath the rhythm.

Skydivers became a personal journey. Not just a release, but a snapshot of a period where I explored new sounds without overthinking, allowing instinct to guide me.

I didn’t want to follow a strict formula, I wanted to stay honest to what felt right, even if it wasn’t “safe.”

Each track is a part of that story.

a powerful fusion of psytrance, psydub and electronic rock infused with Middle Eastern spirit. Hypnotic oud and saz riffs, tribal darbuka rhythms and cosmic synth layers weave together in a ceremonial dance of fire and desert night. Each track opens a portal between ancient desert traditions and futuristic psychedelic soundscapes, guiding the listener through ecstatic motion, mystic trance and radiant rebirth.

It took me a longer time to get it complete but yeah, Vesuvius VA compilation is finally ready to be released :) I've been selecting tunes for the whole past summer 2016 till now, to reach this blasting result: "explosive psytrance" expressing the real power of nature as well as the power of a Vulcan, so conceptually close to the power of Shiva God, cyclically destructing and recreating life. Vesuvius is the name of the Vulcan in Napoli, my native land. It is the first thing I look at every morning out of my window when I wake up and it became the source of my inspiration for collecting the music I currently like and play in my djset around the world. As well as all people living here at the bottom of Vesuvius is aware everything may instantly disappear in case of eruption and so developed special chromosomes to face difficulties of everyday life, I felt a very deep connection with our local nature according to the challenges I had to overcome in my professional growth in a country where anything is easy and where human and cultural values are often just used as marketing tools rather than being spread and shared as inner living practices. I strongly thank all artists involved in this project who confirmed once again the trust on my attitudes and appreciating my musical vision as Dj and more as psychedelic music chronic maniac. All the physical copies will be out with biodegradable digi-sleeves according to Sonica Festival’ sustainable activities in order to reduce the production and the consume of the plastic. Virtual Light & Ingrained Instincts - Hairy Kari (Updated 2023)

Metasonic is the psychedelic DJ project of Sidney van Dyk. Originally from Cape Town, South Africa now living in Bangkok, Thailand.

Since first being exposed to psychedelic trance music and culture in 2009 he fell head over heals in love with both.

He believes that the psychedelic trance journey at it's roots is one of the most liberating and freeing experiences one can have. Be it progressive day-time to Full-on night time to Darkpsy etc, etc, etc and all the myriad of genres in between. The journey it takes you within your own consciousness and who you are after experiencing this journey of sound and self is what made him fall in love. 

Hence the name, Metasonic(meta - after / sonic - sound) is a tribute to that place in all of us that we reach after being taken on a psychedelic sound journey.

His vision for this project is to bring about journey sets to take the listener to that special place inside themselves.
