Rocket & Ponies have put together a special vinyl release for Record Store Day 2017 that finds Timo Maas & James Teej and Sebastian Mullaert serve up fantastic new remixes of classic Moby track ‘Porcelain’. These tracks released on a white label during Record Store Day 2017 sold-out within days, adding further weight to the Rockets & Ponies catalogue, which has been pioneering quality electronic music for almost a decade now.

Timo Maas is the long-time techno titan behind this label, and has partnered up with Canadian artist James Teej to great effect over recent years with a string of collaborations including the Grammy nominated reworking of Paul McCartney. Now the duo hook up again to serve up a Broken China Dub of Moby’s ’Porcelain’. Moby needs little introduction, as one of the figureheads for global dance music he has been pivotal in its development over the years and his seminal 1999 album ‘Play’, from which ‘Porcelain’ is taken, is an undeniable classic.

Maas & Teej’s vital new version is a trippy nine minute symphony of rubbery drums and synthetic synth sounds all run through with the smeared and heartbroken chords of the iconic original. The vocal cries and one finger piano notes also bring real emotion to the supple, rubbery groove and, as a result, this one is sure to make for plenty of teary-eyed moments on dancefloors, beaches, boat parties and terraces this summer.

Then comes Swedish artist Sebastian Mullaert, who has been turning out quality techno, minimal and IDM since the 90s both solo and as one half of Minilogue. From Mule to Hypercolour, Cocoon to Drumcode, he has recorded for the scene’s leading labels, never failing to deliver with each release. Mullaert is also a renowned vintage hardware junkie & sound engineer, who works from an incredible studio space on the edge of a nature reserve in Southern Sweden.

His masterful Transformation Mix is a fourteen minute opus that takes the listener on a trip through organic sound design, summery grooves and loose rhythms. It’s airy and feel good, dubby and infectious, and takes you ever higher with sumptuous strings and synths all oozing warmth and feel good vibes.

Moby - Porcelain (Sebastian Mullaert's Transformation Mix)

Touch Of Class is proud to deliver its first digital single of 2017, a springtime gem entitled, “On the Shelf” featuring vocals by the talented, Amelia — recorded and produced by Dan Berkson and James What. The production partners are individually known for making their marks in the underground electronic scene, both with releases on various notable labels including Crosstown Rebels and Poker Flat, while also running their own imprint, Modelmaker Records.

The five track EP consists of the duo’s original single which is laid down with a driving, tantalizing bass line met with the melodic lyrics of North Carolina based vocalist, Amelia. The jazzy rhodes and vocal edits interlace delicately with swung out percussive drum patterns creating a timeless garage-house, summer tune sure to get any dancefloor moving.

“On the Shelf” is accompanied by four eclectic remixes, each satisfying a disparate moment and sound while respectfully preserving the essence of the original record. Brooklyn’s underground house hero, Jovonn, contributes with a stripped down dub version arranged with heavy drums and a simplistic take on the vocal arrangement — an essential tune for any selector. Chicago legend, Roy Davis Jr., follows up with a peak time interpretation, a perfect jam for the club and festival vibes.

The third remix comes from Grammy winning producer and sound engineer, Dave Robertson, also known as Cameo Culture, who after hearing the tune was instantly reminded of an old Matthew Herbert record, inspiring his use of “real” and organic drum sounds. Cameo’s remix evokes this natural aesthetic throughout, artfully recrafting the original arrangement and composition. The final rendition of the release comes from label founders, Michael Tello and Ray Zuniga aka. Signal Flow. The dynamic duo’s lively rendition presents a melodious, yet groovy journey influenced by their diverse musical palettes and Latin heritage.

The imprint kicks off its fourth year as the new and enriched, Touch Of Class Music, with a full and dynamic release schedule to be distributed worldwide on digital format only. Recognized for its selective and sophisticated sound, the label’s catalogue of timeless anthems promises to be appreciated by all music enthusiasts. Butane’s second release of 2018 drops this May, with the US DJ/producer unveiling his ‘Body of Work’ EP as the fourth installment in his impressive Extrasketch series.

In its fourth release since emerging onto the scene in July of 2017, Extrasketch has become a staple label for many of the industries leading names – with support from Laurent Garnier, Guy Gerber, Jamie Jones, Danny Tenaglia, Kenny Glasgow, Ryan Crosson and Carlo Lio on the last EP alone. Following on from his varied and dynamic ‘Techno Mafia’ EP, here we see Andrew Rasse aka Butane deliver yet another expertly crafted, workman-like four-tracker that’s set to make waves on peak time dancefloors and hazy afterhours throughout the summer and beyond.

Rasse kick starts EX04 with his ‘Rumpus mix’ of ‘Ultramax’.  The original featured as an off-kilter B2 cut on EX02; here he re-works the original’s vocals amongst a deep yet bouncy and rugged low end to provide a fresh and entrancing interpretation for 2018. Next up, ‘Dark Forces’ is a hypnotic and stripped back effort, guided by an evolving lead line and regimented claps, perfectly encapsulating the refined and deft characteristics the San Francisco producer executes so well in his work.

‘People’ opens the B-side and quickly introduces crisp, skipping hats and a rolling, organic dubby tech house groove to reveal a cut designed to keep the morning dance floors moving.  ‘Getting Nowhere’ rounds out the package, as a cheeky remix of his 2012 hit “We Long To Move The Stars To Pity” released on his own Alphahouse imprint and licensed as the opening track on Dubfire’s Essential Mix that year.  Here Rasse returns to his trademark blend: a grooving bassline, well worked percussion patterns, and hooky vocal shots.  As always, this is a must have package from one of House and Techno’s most talented producers, on a thriving imprint that’s set to make an even bigger stir through the year ahead.

Metope’s tracks sometimes seem as if they longed to turn their digital being into real flesh. 
Unable to achieve this, they try to imagine what it would be like, by using bit reduction processes to simulate half forgotten thoughts. 
After years of calculations and communications with the spirit of a long forgotten master called „Sid“, they were still dissatisfied and 
they still didn’t know what being human feels like, …they had not even the faintest idea. 
But one day this frustrating situation came to an end. 
Metope played a few beautiful, yet slightly melancholic chords, recorded them and 
nearly went crazy when he realised what had happend:……….…"my love feels digital" he said to himself…..… “my digital feels love“ appeared on the screen…

Metope (born Michael Schwanen) has been producing electronic music for almost 20 years. He founded his label Areal Records with his good friends Basteroid and Konfekt in 2001. Through his releases on Areal he was soon being invited to perform live at clubs and festivals worldwide. In 2005 he released his first full-length album, “Kobol” which received critical acclaim for it's dark and original take on what a techno LP should be. Over the years Metope has also made a name for himself as a remixer, putting his touch on artists such as Depeche Mode, Gabriel Ananda, Lexy and Fairmont. 
In 2007 he began playing live as the Cereal Killers along with Areal label mate Ada, and friends Jake Fairley and Pan/Tone. In 2008 Metope and Basteroid opened the Areal sub-label IRR (International Records Recordings) with Ada as A&R. The label was instantly heralded by both the press and DJ's for the productions of John Daly, DJ Koze and Ada. Towards the end of 2009 Metope started to DJ professionally. Pryer to this he had kept this passion to himself and done so only in the shadows. He is now also experimenting with a combined live-set-DJ performance, using Traktor and a Native Instruments Maschine. 2009 also saw Metope establish Beachcoma Recordings with Canadian friends Pan/Tone and Fairmont. The three have now started to produce and perform live as a trio under the name Beachcoma.
Metope has several releases in the pipeline as well. Arriving first will be “Defender” on IRR, followed by “Betaowl” on Areal both in the November of 2010. He is also working on his next album which is set for release in the autumn of 2012 on Areal Records.
