MEYER RECORDS, founded in May 2005 by well-known graphic designer and theater photographer Werner Meyer, quickly established itself as a small but hip cult label in the "audiophile scene".

The Cologne record label became renowned nationwide and received air time in 2006 with the release of the first sampler VOLUME ONE. LP – Magazin für Analoges HiFi & Vinylkultur says, "[...] Album of the year 2006: Superb song selection, great voices: MORE!" while Deutschlandradio Kultur calls the album "[...] an excellent compilation that inspires listeners to explore the individual artists' work more closely." 
 
The Blues album BONES by two-time recipient of the German vinyl award, Richard Bargel, was released in 2007 and stayed on AMAZON's top seller list for weeks. BLUESNEWS magazine comments, "… without a question one of the best German acoustic productions of the year!" 
 
MEYER RECORDS productions adhere to high quality standards in regard to recording technology, mastering (Pauler Acoustics) and pressing. "[...] Her [Esther Fellner, Via del Campo] audio engineering truly makes the sound come alive in between the speakers, further creating an impression of proximity and intensity – very close to hearing it live” (Matthias Böde, Editor-in-chief STEREO 2008).
 
The 2009 recording of MARIA PIHL's debut "MALVINA" marks the first large international order from Sweden [Border].  New copies of the CDs and vinyl had to be produced after just 14 days. MEYER RECORDS products are now also distributed to record stores in Japan, Hong Kong and the USA by the high-end manufacturer "clearaudio" from Erlangen, Germany. 
 
Top international distributor ROUGH TRADE will take over distribution in June 2010. MEYER RECORDS CDs and vinyl are now available in Saturn and Media Markt stores. Music downloads will also be available from MEYER RECORDS for the first time with the release of the live album "Richard Bargel w/ Major Heuser (ex-BAP member)".
