Strange movements emerge from the lake. Beneath the thin layer of water that separates aquatic and terrestrial creatures, dozens of carp move in unison. From here come the drifting voices. French artist Raveld is the bearer of those echoing sounds, and he does it among four distinctive, slick, original minimal tunes that resonate throughout both hemispheres. Prepare to be permeated by pulsating basslines, bald groove patterns, and a good dose of ethereal, blossoming energy.

I first met Diego in January 2005 when I was fortunate enough to visit Argentina on a DJ tour, we hit it off and have stayed connected ever since. Fast forward to now and the upcoming release of his superb Deal With It EP, written and produced by him and Diego Cid, under their D&D moniker.

Diego Ro-K and Diego CD are undoubtedly the main pioneers of the Argentinian underground electronic scene, with both starting their music careers in the 80s and building the scene through parties, club nights, compilations and radio shows. During the ’90s, outside of D&D, they also created the DJ crews, Urban Groove (Diego Cid) and DJ Union (Diego Ro-K) via which they flooded the country with the best house and techno music. They are responsible for bringing the likes of Juan Atkins, Ricardo Villalobos, Justin Harris, Murk, Woody McBride, DJ Hell, Michael Mayer, DJ Pierre, Vitalic and many more to play in the country. In 1999, they signed their 1st recording contract with EMI/Virgin, becoming the 1st techno duo to sign with an international company.

It’s an awesome journey through the underground which absolutely stinks of class.

The 2 main tracks on the EP sit firmly in the dark corners of any nightclub, both completely original whilst retaining that MFF swing required from all of our releases… And with a belting remix from fellow Argentinian Nacho Bolognani (@nachobolognani), to bring a slightly more housier feel to the track, you can’t go wrong.

Frankfurt-based artist Sofian is relatively new to the production game, but in a short amount of time he’s made quite the splash. Following appearances on Robert Babicz’ Babiczstyle, Tronic and Phobiq, he lands his debut on Sous with the Awakening EP featuring three deep cuts of the highest order.
 
The title track is true to its name, slowly unveiling a repeated chime motif from behind a standard kick, then adding tinkling arpeggios to lull the listener into a higher state of consciousness. Bleary processed toms provide a hands-in-air moment towards the track’s end, its hypnotic journey having come full circle. 
 
“The Other Side” is similarly multifaceted. A cosmic odyssey strewn with starburst synths and bleepy arpeggiating keys, the introduction of a staunch kick drum propels the mix forward before a thick rubbery bassline takes the energy up a notch. Slightly trippy and aimed for the heavens, “The Other Side” is your soundtrack to gooey post-peak blissouts. 
 
On “Discotheka”, Sofian brings the listener from the stratosphere back to the club, evoking the eternal pull of the dancefloor through snappy snares, neon stabs and a squiggly acid bassline. Bright and bouncy with a dark undercurrent, it perfectly captures the spirit of a hedonist’s playground.
 
Showcasing three different moods and bundles of talent, Sofian’s maiden release on Sous surely won’t be his last.

A long time ago them Freaks (Luke Solomon & Justin Harris) built a bridge with Chicago. It was a long Freaky bridge that absorbed a whole community of misfits. They joined forces and built a fort under the banner of Music for Freaks.
The fort was built to protect them from the normals - but also a place to build an army of associated miscreants that would slowly begin their attack on the offending world of bland dance music. The army grew and Freaks took to the road ....
