05. See You Again

This track is about my struggles with self doubt and insecurity, and trying to seek validation through a relationship but never truly feeling seen or understood in it. In terms of the actual production of the track, my creative process has definitely changed a lot since my last release. Whereas I previously started songs on my computer with a lot of sound design and experimentation, this started as a simple acoustic guitar riff over a drum machine. I find the limitation of having to play things physically or programming them on a physical synth or sampler to be incredibly useful for my process. Often when I could make everything as layered and complex as I wanted in my DAW I found it hard to know when to stop, but now along with having to do everything with physical hardware and instruments, I purposefully limit the number of parts I can use so it can easily be played live, which has been super inspiring.

For context on the lyrics, its essentially my thought process after reading into the various neurological illnesses that can paralyze you. It's pretty scary that our own body can create such a torturous existence and sometimes there is no reason behind it besides "bad luck"

After seeing someone firsthand with one of these, I couldn't imagine not wanting to get euthanized in such a position. Some of these are just downhill, there is no "it'll get better" so what can you even say to them? And yet some of these people somehow find a way to still want to live and be happy. So I wrote the lyrics with all this in mind, loosely trying to turn things around at the end with a more hopeful light that their acceptance can be inspiring or make you more grateful of the mundane moments. But its like a secondhand silver lining, the positive take away isn't even theirs to keep.
