Lines of Fight return with “Open Plains,” the latest release from their ongoing Double A-Side series. The track drops Friday, October 3, and will be available via Bandcamp, all major streaming platforms, and accompanied by a visual premiere on YouTube at 8PM GMT.

Driven by new wave synths and post-punk rhythms, “Open Plains” examines how power asserts control, erasing lives and reducing peace to a distant memory. Lines of Fight channel this tension into a sound that’s both urgent and reflective, capturing the emotional fallout of displacement and domination.

Inspired by chapters from Mourning Nature, the track echoes the book’s critique of control, displacement, and the pain inflicted by systems that prioritize progress over humanity.

Continuing their exploration of loss, solastalgia, and the emotional toll of modernity, “Open Plains” builds on themes from previous releases. It confronts the destructive relationship between dominant power and the lives it erases, reflecting on histories of people who once lived peacefully, now reduced to ghostly memories scattered across barren landscapes.

Lines of Flight are an electropop band from Leeds. Originally a 2-piece formed during lockdown and writing and recording on iPhones in separate houses, we have now expanded to a 5-piece band, bringing live bass, drums and keyboards into our writing, recordings and live shows. 


Celilo Falls // Crush (Double A-side) is the first release since we welcomed our new members. While maintaining our electro roots and reflective lyrics, our sound has evolved to bring a raw new wave energy, with postpunk basslines and pulsing rhythms adding fresh urgency and depth.
