Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Wednesday evening (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

Christmas songs and the like are also not eligible for the Listening Post, although we will collect these into a playlist that will be published on 24 December.

This is the lead single from the forthcoming sophomore release 'More Than Human' .Becoming Bear contributes to the sense of change with the Ep as a whole.
Standing in contrast to 'Signs of Life's reflective emotions, triggered by lockdown, 'More Than Human' begins the process of looking forward. They confront what is lying ahead. Lines of Flight explore what humans do to each other and why they do it; what we they do to other animals we share the world with; and what humans do to the planet. 

They saw loneliness, self-sabotage, isolation, paranoia and fear. They saw the natural world remaining here long after we are gone. They saw the pandemic fade away and things returning to 'normal'. They saw that things won't ever be the same but that so much hasn't changed. We are creatures of habit, we are creatures of comfort, we don't change unless we have to, or until it is too late.

Watching the War

As a counterpoint to Celilo Falls,, Crush embraces melodic new wave and post-rock’s signature loud-quiet-loud dynamics, pulling inspiration from The Cure, Mogwai and Public Service Broadcasting. In lines like, "I am the cramps in your empty stomach," it contemplates the weight of grief—channeling the emotional toll of environmental destruction and the powerlessness felt in the face of that loss. Through sweeping soundscapes and stark contrasts in texture and intensity, Crush delivers a visceral reflection on irreversible change.
“Capturing the raw and the gentle, the tension and release, the powerful and intimate are the perfect means to explore the pain, grief, and loss at the heart of these songs,” says Matthew. “We loved putting the first two releases together as a duo, but as a five-piece, it becomes so much more powerful—and we are really proud of that.”
Together, the tracks mark a bold step toward Lines of Flight’s new sound, encapsulated in their forthcoming Double A-side series, which will culminate in their sophomore album, Hosts of Nowhere, set for release in March 2026.

Lines of Flight Announce Second Double A-side Release: Wilderness // Slow Violence, out now.
Leeds-based electronic band Lines of Flight return with their evocative second Double A-side release, Wilderness // Slow Violence, arriving August 1st on streaming platforms and their Bandcamp page.
Following the critical resonance of Celilo Falls // Crush, this new release dives deeper into the band’s signature blend of philosophical lyricism and sonic experimentation. 'Wilderness' beings with the haunting question: “What would you give to have our time over?” as a poignant invitation to reflect on fractured relationships with the planet and each other. Driven by brooding new wave rhythms and dream-pop synths, the track laments loss and longing: can we ever return to the wilderness, when so much has changed? Has the damage we have done rendered it unreachable—a relic too deep in shadow for light to reach? 
Slow Violence, the second track, amplifies this sense of environmental grief and existential urgency, weaving atmospheric layers and rhythmic pulses into a meditative confrontation with what we've overlooked, denied, and delayed.
Together, Wilderness // Slow Violence continue the band's exploration of solastalgia (emotional or existential distress caused by environmental change—especially when it affects your home while you're still living there) and their compelling exploration of memory, identity, and ecological responsibility, an artistic fusion that challenges listeners to confront their own place in a rapidly shifting world.

Bydd Goleuni yn yr Hwyr

Tidal Wave is about that flood of emotion when you let yourself feel fully, even if it crashes in all at once. The temporary drowning that can lead to clarity.
This project came together as I let go, as I let the wave take me where it needed to. I was trying to be honest, learning not to hide from what hurts.
Written, produced & mixed entirely by me.

Lines of Fight return with “Open Plains,” the latest release from their ongoing Double A-Side series. The track drops Friday, October 3, and will be available via Bandcamp, all major streaming platforms, and accompanied by a visual premiere on YouTube at 8PM GMT.

Driven by new wave synths and post-punk rhythms, “Open Plains” examines how power asserts control, erasing lives and reducing peace to a distant memory. Lines of Fight channel this tension into a sound that’s both urgent and reflective, capturing the emotional fallout of displacement and domination.

Inspired by chapters from Mourning Nature, the track echoes the book’s critique of control, displacement, and the pain inflicted by systems that prioritize progress over humanity.

Continuing their exploration of loss, solastalgia, and the emotional toll of modernity, “Open Plains” builds on themes from previous releases. It confronts the destructive relationship between dominant power and the lives it erases, reflecting on histories of people who once lived peacefully, now reduced to ghostly memories scattered across barren landscapes.

In The Shadow

Welsh artist Becky Winfield released her new single ‘Feel the Rhythm’ on Friday 26th September. 

’Feel The Rhythm’ captures the joyous, sunny atmosphere of festivals and dancing through the night. Through the song, Becky reminisces over a special night, dancing with a loved one and being able to relive that moment. 

The song’s release will be followed by an accompanying music video featuring bachata dancers that gives you a vibrant visualisation of the song’s story. 

The song was written by Becky with guitarist/producer Ryan Elliott and features brothers Matthew Griffiths and Jonathan Griffiths on bass guitar and drums. The song was engineered and co-produced by Andrew Bishop, mixed by Ryan and mastered by Andy ‘Hippy’ Baldwin.

I Remember Everything

Lines of Flight are an electropop band from Leeds. Originally a 2-piece formed during lockdown and writing and recording on iPhones in separate houses, we have now expanded to a 5-piece band, bringing live bass, drums and keyboards into our writing, recordings and live shows. 


Celilo Falls // Crush (Double A-side) is the first release since we welcomed our new members. While maintaining our electro roots and reflective lyrics, our sound has evolved to bring a raw new wave energy, with postpunk basslines and pulsing rhythms adding fresh urgency and depth.
