“Main Character” is a song about quiet realization — about watching someone else take the spotlight and feeling peace instead of envy. It begins at a rainy bus stop, where an unnamed narrator observes a stranger who moves through the world like she’s in a movie: her steps timed with the crosswalk chirp, her smile soft after a hard day, her story unfolding in small gestures.

As the song moves, the narrator guesses at her life — her best friend who might love her, the mother she thinks she’s disappointed — but the real story happens inside the watcher. By the last chorus, the roles have shifted: the narrator lets go of control, finds beauty in being background and free, and learns that not every day needs to be your scene to feel alive.
