The Grammy Awards have revealed their nominations for 2018's show, including a slew of established electronic acts for the Best Dance Recording and Best Dance Album categories. For Best Dance Recording the competition is just as steep, with Bonobo set to face-off with Gorillaz, LCD Soundsystem and Odesza, plus Camephat & Elderbrook's breakout tune, 'Cola'.

Preparing for this event I was completely unaware that the format I chose had never been done. It took a lot of technical logistics but it was totally worth it and thankfully there were no glitches. The hotspot kept working, the battery didn't run out, the sunset was perfect, and most importantly, the crowd was very aware and respectful of the distancing policies. 

Of course, after everything NYC has been through over the past months, you would expect this awareness, and it was heartwarming to see everyone strike such a good balance between being together, dancing, and still keeping their distance and their masks on. 

I played from 6pm until sunset (8:30pm) and the output of my mixer was streamed to my website. Everyone in attendance picked up the stream in their own way. Some brought small speakers, other brought bigger speakers, and many people listened on their headphones. But without big main speakers there was no center of gravity for the event, making everyone very comfortable to spread out of the beautiful open space in Prospect Park. And then the cream on top was the amazing vocal curation by @elliott-larue-1
