From the steady dripping of raindrops in the rainy season, to the cicada in the summer heat, to the
gurgling of spring streams from melting snow, the majestically serene city of “Kyoto” Japan, is naturally filled with the poetry of nature.

New beginnings offer enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth, the hauntingly beautiful sounds of young Japanese ambient composer “Michiru Aoyama” offer something of a peaceful and reassuring retreat, detaching the listener from the current material world, therefore accommodating the quests of purity, love and unbeknown wisdom.

The third release from London based label “Interlude”, Michiru Aoyama - Kyoto.

Michiru Aoyama is a young ambient composer from Kyoto, Japan.

Michiru also delivers the label's first ambient album release, with all together 6 pieces of naturally composed Electronic Music.

私は週末の朝早くお寺に出かけます。

“Zen 禅 is a Japanese Spirit. I go to a temple in the early morning of the weekend. Then, I practice meditation in Zen Buddhism for about 3 hours. The heart becomes quiet, gradually like the water surface which is not choppy, but still. All environmental sound and non-sound, begin to have a meaning to me, and soon the sounds begins to shine” - Michiru Aoyama

Lagartijeando has produced a very special EP with a choir from an indigenous tribe called Coro Qom Chelaalapi.  The choir formed as a means of passing down their culture to future generations in the absence of any formal records. They have been declared a living cultural heritage by UNESCO. Blending traditional songs with brooding beats and big grooves, The Revisión EP is a unique and special collaboration exploring the tribe’s rich musical heritage with contemporary production.

The original songs have a mythology and their bespoke instruments have deep significances. The nivike is a single string violin (representing the sounds made by a jaguar sharpening its claws on a tree trunk) and was used as a form of communication to contact loved ones or to find love amongst the mountain dwellers.

Antiguos Dueños De Las Flechas (Ancient Owner Of Arrows); the dark brooding bass and haunting vocals tell the sad story of the Spanish conquistadores destroying local tribes’ agriculture & way of life.

Evan Magoni is a sound artist and composer exploring the creation of synthetic environments. His music as gonima spans ambient, glitch, and complex rhythm, employing digital textures and bright melodies. A restricted palette of sharp timbres is thrown sparingly at the canvas to highlight negative sonic space. 

The gonima project started in 2011 and is based in Montréal, Québec, Canada. Releases have found homes on local labels ygrade and Ancient Robot, and in Germany on Slam City Jams. 

gonima's latest work, "Nine Objects Through Open Window" on noted ambient composer Michiru Aoyama's Bullflat3.8 imprint, continues the emotional threads of fragmented beauty established in previous works. The album pursues them in a more subdued manner, slowly unfurling as a collage of melodic ambient washes with occasional rhythmic breaks.

Corrado Maria De Santis is an Italian guitarist. Coming from an academic background in contemporary jazz he has gradually moved towards experimental drone ambient work.
His work primarily is characterized by the blending of the raw improvised guitar with sounds generated from his computer, creating soundscapes rich with surprises from domestic sounds bringing to mind a fly buzz in the window, the creak of a bed or the hum of a street light to rich sweeping harmonics shifting the tone to the ocean and the cold wind.
His aesthetic interest and sonic experiments reference oscillations of the Earth and it’s silence while utilizing pattern’s meditative power with drone sounds broken by glitches. His instrumental virtuosity allows mysterious improvised soundscapes to coexist with melody led composition.

私は、一人でも多くのひとに新しい音の世界があることを確認してほしいです。一人一人の個性を感じ取ってほしいです。

We have known each other for quite a long time. Both sharing the same fascination for sounds and musical devices. At some point we started to think: “Why not collaborate together?” 
This opportunity arose when Dominik Grenzler aka An Moku received an invitation to play at the 10th and very last “Marathon Des Zelluloids”, a silent-movie festival with live performed soundtracks, which took place in December 2019 in Zurich, Switzerland. An Moku invited Joel to participate. 

At the beginning of Autumn 2019 we started to meet on a regular basis for sessions to improvise together. By then we still didn’t know which film we got to set to music, and since we never played together before, the main goal was to develop a feeling for each other. In only a short time together we developed a wonderful flow and during our sessions we collected many ideas and clues how to work together for the festival. 
One month before the festival we were given the actual films we had to create the soundtrack for. We received three short movies by Maya Deren: Meshes of the Afternoon (1943), At Land (1944), and Ritual in Transfigured Time (1946). Due to An Moku‘s sketches the composing process flew by really fast and after three sessions we finalized the music for each film. 

“Maya Deren” is a concept album based around the music composed for the three short-films with selected extracts from the former rehearsal sessions in Autumn.
