This session emerged as a closing ceremony , a spontaneous jam between participants and a live set where everyone’s movement intertwined freely with the sound . Much like the spirit of the retreat itself, this mix breaks boundaries , blending genres, energies, and improvisation into one evolving flow.

Wave Arising is a multidisciplinary project , a new frequency within rave culture, where body and sound merge as one language. It invites a reconnection with the ritual dimension of dance, unfolding through an experimental and ever-evolving dance floor.
Rooted in Qi Gong, deep listening, and somatic approches , our work expands through workshops, retreats, and live improvisations , exploring energy, rhythm, and collective presence.

Cérémonie de clôture de la retraite , une jam spontanée entre les participant.e.s et le live set, où le mouvement s’est librement entremêlé au son.  À l’image de la retraite, ce mix traverse les frontières, mêlant styles, énergies et improvisation dans un flow en constante métamorphose.

Wave Arising est un projet pluridisciplinaire , une nouvelle fréquence de la culture rave, où le corps et le son s’unissent en un seul langage. Il invite à retrouver la dimension rituelle de la danse, sur un dance floor expérimental, vivant et en perpétuelle évolution.
Porté par le Qi Gong, la qualité d’écoute et approches somatiques , notre travail s’articule autour d’ateliers, de retraites et d’improvisations live . Une recherche continue autour de l’énergie, du rythme et de la présence collective .

Born in 1996 in Tokunoshima, a small island in Kagoshima Japan, and rased in Osaka.

He is based in Osaka and plays in various places, selecting and mixing music of various genres from world music to slow techno,  Downtempo,techno, acid and house, shaking the place with the sence of balance.

He has supported and co-starred with a variety of artists such as Nicola Cruz, Shackleton, Barrio Lindo, 250, Kurup, James Lavelle and Todd Terje ... etc
and played at Big party in Japan "FUTURE TERROR", which was held at Countdown at the end of year.

Regular readers of tQ might remember that our friends at MUTEK helpfully had someone handy with a tape recorder to capture Factory Floor's comeback set at the 2024 edition of the festival. Well, we're happy to report that they've done done the same again, this time with one of our favourite collaborative duos – James Holden and Wacław Zimpel. The intense, beautiful and burbling set, with modular synths and saxophone dancing in all the bright ecstasy of a winter mountain stream, can be listened to on our Soundcloud below.  " i remember i really enjoyed this one, it was the first show we'd had for a little while and felt quite flowy, a nice connected feeling," reflected James Holden, and his musical partner agrees: "I really loved it," Wacław Zimpel says, "it's always quite amazing to play again after longer break. Breaks gives a room for new ideas to grow spontaneously." They both praise preceding sets by Yu Su and Valentina Magaletti for setting "a great vibe at the venue," as Zimpeł puts it. It came on top of a fine stay in Montreal for the festival. "We immersed ourselves in the local cuisine – poutine – and then climbed the big hill. at the top a guy with a fluorescent cargo bike and a poodle in (also fluorescent) ankle warmers turned up, pumping 90s house out of a Bluetooth speaker. We felt like we'd completed Canada, achievement unlocked."

The recording of my ambient set at Sustain Release Year 11, opening the Bossa Lounge on Saturday evening from 9PM-midnight. 

This set is 3 hours from the heart journeying through time&space across ambient, downtempo, trip hop, acoustic instrumentals, synthesiser pieces and all inbetween 💞 

This is one of my favourite ambient DJing experiences I've had, I felt so at home in the Bossa Lounge and such a deep sense of attentiveness from the audience, thank you to all those who travelled with me on this trip.

“well in 1994 i started working on a side of my music i call dub-technic. i was using the techniques of reggae dub from king tubby, lee perry, scientist etc. the idea was to do dub but not with reggae. to apply the attitude but not use their music. over the years i have done four albums in that vein but i also worked in this way with mc tablloyd on two albums and did an improvisational band with some jazz musicians and mc tablloyd called new weather. we released all this music in the end on expressillon a parisien label 1999-2010. unfortunately this music has never really found a home in the free party scene and so it has always been eclipsed by the music we did in spiral tribe and network 23 recordings. 

this mix is from this side of my music. i really feel that since covid there has been a change in the scene and more experimental music seems to be finding a bigger public than it did before. my work within the meditation scenes and now with wave arising this kind of music is really finding its home. i have always loved dubby, trippy music that takes you on a journey. improvised liveset is the perfect medium for this. i am really hoping i can connect to a public that likes this kind of music as i love playing it. 

“southern wind blows warm mix “ was an improvisation i did mid-summer 25 at my home in the mountains of the massif centrale. there was a beautiful warm southern wind blowing in the night. this is the music that came out.”

the first mix feature of 2026 is here and what a way to kick off the new year, with the legendary artist scottish-born, france-based artist 69db. 

how do you introduce someone like 69db who has made such an influential impact on electronic music culture? from his work as part of spiral tribe within the free party movement, to co-founding network 23 recordings and releasing as one half of r-zac, to being one of the pioneers of the 160-170bpm freetek sound that has made a resurgence in the last five or so years with the likes of spekki webu and woody92 noting 69db as an influence to most recently exploring the deeper connection between music and meditation, putting more emphasis on the ritualistic and healing part of music and improvisation. we also spoke to 69db last year as part of the research and formation of the french low end psychedelia piece as the free party movement was introduced to the country via sprial tribe’s migration to the country after the uk government was cracking down on the scene. 

one of the most unique parts of 69db’s output is that his live shows can span for hours on end. stepping away from the industry standard of 1 or 2 hour live set performance, at the wave arising retreats 69db hosts live ceremonies where he can play for up to 8 hours, flowing through soft ambient beginnings before the ritual explodes into dancefloor mayhem, a beautiful metaphor for life and the way humans connect with sound. this nods to the approach for this week’s edition of the 909 podcast where 69db draws from the warm southern wind blowing in the night to create this free-spirited mix.

Fifteen years ago,  my Entropic City album was released on Time To Express. It was received very positively. Resident Advisor  described it as “amongst techno’s most compelling stories to date”, while Germany’s *Groove* magazine called it a “modern classic of the genre”. The album also appeared in several end-of-year best-of lists. Fun times.

At the beginning of 2025, I started looking for a meaningful way to mark the album’s 15th anniversary. Over the course of the year, I began developing stripped-down edits of the original tracks. Two rules guided the process: I was allowed to use only one additional sound source alongside the original track, and every version had to be recorded as a live take. It took some time to bring the project together, but I’m happy to say it was completed before the end of 2025.

This album will be made available exclusively to members of the paid tiers on Patreon. There will be no further online release or promotional mailout.
