It’s always a challenge to summarize over a decade of work within the music industry. There are heaps of challenges both big and small one has to handle and embrace to remain fluid enough sway with the current of change. One of the biggest correlations that every accomplished artist we feature over SoundPark expresses is an acute level of patience and resolve to never lose sight of their artistic expression in its purest form. With fifteen years under his belt, Los Angeles based Michael Joseph’s accomplishments span across a variety of genres and pseudonyms. 

As SAAND, his melancholic audio tales are no doubt intended to motivate a floor over the course of an evening. The sulky textures that flow through SAAND’s palette add depth while simultaneously controlling the intensity of the music. SAAND consistently demonstrates control over the pace of his music and this skill will allow any melancholic shade of house music to flourish with enthusiasm. SAAND’s ability has amassed a punchy resume of performances that cover some lustrous festivals including Lightning in a Bottle, Woogie Weekend, and Mexico’s BPM among others. His releases are found riddled across affluent labels that are also pushing the envelope in their own way. Favorites including Dilate, Motek, and Union Jack can all be found highlighting SAAND’s work. 

Outside of Joseph’s musical prowess, his contribution to the southern California based music publication Music is 4 Lovers shouldn’t be short changed. As the Director and Senior Editor, Joseph regularly exhibits years of music knowledge to the outlet which has helped advance its reach far beyond its California walls. Music Is 4 Lovers has distinguished itself as a prominent independent music publication and Joseph’s influence is clear. Frankly, this is a great example of what separates an artist from a taste maker. My name is Alexis. I am a French producer and Dj originally from Paris of 23 years old based in Montréal, Canada. I have been producing music for the past 3 years while studying for my undergraduate studies in economics and political science. Yet, I will be moving to Paris in September to continue my studies.

I would like to share with you a short musical story made from musics that I love and often play in my sets.

I also played around the end of the mix a track that I produced. The track is called -Lost In Time-. This track has a lot of organic elements in the drums (toms, shakers, Egyptian guitar, and flute) with some more analog synth elements that come up in some parts of the arrangement. In 1995 simple tracker software got the interest of the two friends Daniel and Ricardo. Thus, they decided to produce a few tracks.
Both shared a common passion for all sorts of different musical styles, which made their early productions very diverse.
Through the many influences of artists from New Order and Depeche Mode to Massive Attack, The Prodigy, Moby and the various techno disciples
of this multi-faceted time, the two of them produced everything they enjoy, be it trip hop, electronica, breaks or techno.

However, in 1999 the two of them went separate ways for reasons of diverging careers.
They quickly lost touch to each other until the contact ceased completely. Yet, the two of them still wished to produce music.
This is why both of them kept working with synthesizers, music software and studio technology creating their own tracks.

In 2003, it was coincidence that brought them back together.
The two friends met again at a small local electro party and soon realised that they still shared the same interest for electronic music as they had four years earlier.
After a few sessions in their domestic living room studios they decided to make more of their hobby and, thus, started renting their first studio in 2005.
Microtrauma was born.

In 2007, Microtrauma had its first release “Wake up“ on the Elected Tunes label. Their first own release “Collar EP” soon was to follow.
Microtrauma has developed its own style from almost ten years of working and tinkering as well as its many influences: melodic, dark, technoid and minimal.
