Didi is one of the most versatile artists I've personally have gotten to know in Montreal. A DJ, VJ, multidisciplinary Producer & rapper! 

Upon meeting him, I was immediately impressed with his admiration and love of IDM/broken sounds, Didi surely grasped his sound quick and dove into what he loves most, Hip-hop production.

What a pleasure to welcome head honcho behind Acmé (@acme-music-es) & Third Stream imprints Alex Font(@alexfont).

A killer performance, ranging from housey minimal tracks to acid blasting electro!

Alex is a musician, producer and DJ, born and based in the mediterranean side of Valencia, Spain.

He started his musical career back in 2000, buying his first records and playing them in intimate venues around Valencia. Four years later he started playing at the cities top venues: Barraca, Puzzle, Guru and Queen (where he was resident DJ for a few years).
 
Strongly influenced by Latin-American music and Jazz, Font has created a sound blending these influences with Minimal and House music.

In 2015 Alex created Acmé, a vinyl only label that quickly gained notoriety in the minimal-house underground scene, supported and played by legends like Ricardo Villalobos, Rhadoo, Cabanne and Ohm Hourani to name a few.

We're back with yet another fantastic episode with Toronto based Canuck Ryan Winters, he goes by the moniker "Mary" (@marywax).

Mary was under our Soundcloud radar for a while and we couldn't be happier to have connected with him, a fantastic selector with the most exquisite taste in records!

Mary informed me of his main inspiration behind choosing records for this set has been the concept of a Space Elevator, which he became familiar with after putting a bunch of hours into a computer game called "Satisfactory" during lockdown.

Microwaves is thrilled to present the one and only Dan Piu (@boutopoulos-george)

Electronic music producer based in Zurich, Switzerland. In 1992 he started to produce music on his self-founded labels No Acting Vibes and Moto Music. Specialized in using a variety of analogue synthesizers and pedal effects, Dan Piu’s productions were known for analogue sounds.

The mix complication is focused on some of Dan's most underground, underrated and forgotten old-school rarities.

You'll notice that some tracks are louder on one side than the other, Dan told us it's from a mini Album released in 1991 which he used and it appears that this record was stamped unbalanced. 

"The whole selection is very underground‘ish and I recorded it through my Urei 1620 mixer, it's dirty but very warm." - Dan

The Ontario-born, Montreal-based producer catches ears and hearts with a diverse array of expression and energy. Alicia’s sound and vibe, the very embodiment of a life lived creating, dancing to and inspired by music. Her raison d’être, to be moved by music and to do the same for others.

Her live performance, an energized bouncy affair that stimulates both brain and body. A sweet and subtle absurdity giving way to a bad ass barrage of heavy basslines, silly vocals and crispy crunchy sounds that that have us grooving, wooooting, laughing and moving... taking us from the deep dark to the silly and carefree; holding true to only one common ground.......... music that moves you.

Originally from Medellin Colombia, the DJ and self taught graphic designer SUFèR has been mixing for more than a year now, establishing his eclectic sound through Montreal venues.

Microwaves proudly presents @clairelabs [Archipel/Loob/Monoclap/Hushlamb]! We're super excited to have her onboard, delivering a unique mix from outer space, trip out with her set and expect heavy beats with a refreshing twist!

[Artist Bio]
Deep inside Montreal's underground Claire concocts her unique sound. Her style encompasses shades of techno, micro-house, Romanian and silky-smooth minimal grooves: deep, trippy, and sensual with deep chords, mysterious whispers, and low-slung funk. Some call it Soul Techno; sounds meant to wake up some goosebumps and feelings you weren't aware of until now.

The daughter of a violinist and a mad scientist, Claire played violin and bass guitar before discovering electronic music. A DJ for over 15 years, she has established herself as a key player in the Canadian electronic music community. This has brought her to events and venues like MUTEK, Igloofest, Air (Tokyo), Garorock, the Techno Parade (Paris), Bass Coast Festival, Piknic Electronik , and Club der Visionaere. 

She developed her sound during a 9 year residency at Laika Montreal. She now has a monthly night at cultural institution Salon Daome. She immersed herself in conceptual late night fantasies with Blackbox Montreal, a series of nomadic dance parties that played host to the likes of Akufen, Mike Shannon, DoubtingThomas, Alicia Hush, Frivolous, and more. She has shared the stage with some of her favourite artists: Magda, Sonja Moonear, Ellen Allien, Maayan Nidam, DeWalta, Yokoo, Noze, and Tipper. In Chile she even did an impromptu b2b with Sonja Moonear at the afterparty for Piknic Electronic Santiago!

Following the release of her 2012 album Under A Midnight Moon on Archipel, Claire has been making regular trips to Europe with forays into Mexico, Chile, Argentina, and Japan. She has an ever-growing discography: two vinyl EPs: Monoclap 06 which includes a LoSoul Remix, and Univers Parallele on Conceptual Records (2017). After taking a little bit of time to welcome and nurture her daughter Kyoko who is now 2 years old, she is back and has a remix—2012 (Claire’s Psychedelic Space Remix) out on Icewax Oct 2019, and an upcoming EP on Hushlamb March 2020.

Tom is the core member and resident of the Freerotation Festival, Tom Ellis has been releasing funk & jazz inspired house & techno since 2003, when he launched Trimsound, his first label, which was co-run with Leif.

His vast discography includes over 40 EPs and 7 albums that pop up on some of the world's most respected underground labels. His early appearances on Mindtours and Trimsound led to worldwide recognition and further releases and remixes for Archipel, Good Ratio Music, Classic, Philpot, Moon Harbour, Leap, Telegraph, Logistic, Black Key Records, Eye4Eye, Floppy Funk, Morris Audio, Flumo, Supremus Records, Hartchef Discos, Minibar, Highgrade, Klamauk, and Som Bom (the electronic spin-off label run by fellow Welsh men, Super Furry Animals) and many, many more.

Tom's DJ & Live sets, which usually consist entirely of his own material (often unreleased and previously un-heard), have taken him across the globe with gigs as far afield as Moscow, Tokyo, Montreal, Guatemala, and Honduras, as well as regular appearances across Europe.

His music is regularly picked up and played by the likes of Carl Cox, Magda, Zip, Lauren Lavern (BBC 6 music), Craig Richards, Maya Jane Coles and many others.

Forever steering into the weirder side of things, he tries to anchor himself with his experience as a self-taught musician. Playing drums, bass, keys and guitar from an early age has given him a good foundation from which to understand and explore electronic music with the groove, soul and funk of a real musician.

2016 has seen the launch of his new solo label, In Modo Di (@in-modo-di), with the first record landing high in the bestseller charts, and the launch of his new monthly radio show on KMAH radio, The Taunton Loft Sessions.

Duchesse, Beirut-born, Montreal-based artist is timid by nature, catching the spotlight with her warm, subtle music that effortlessly evolves from fragile and warm to energizing and groovy. She likes to set the tone from the beginning to the very last end in everything she does, continuously succeeding in creating a brilliant vibe.

Music is at the core of everything Duchesse sets her mind to, coming from an artistic background, Duchesse began her musical journey at a young age as a classical ballet dancer for several years.

While the underground music scene started evolving in Beirut, Duchesse was inspired to start a new adventure as a DJ in 2008 in small bars and then stopped for a while in order to focus on her studies then moved to Canada to pursue her career in photography and music.

After years of listening to a wide range of music, searching for new sounds and getting inspired by people around her, Duchesse found herself in the music loop all over again, then started learning music production and getting tips from artists around her and got back to mixing in selective parties where she felt guarded in her cocoon.

Gena Ivanov aka Brother G is a Ukrainian DJ/producer. Being one of Ukraine's young electronic music scene pioneers, he started playing in clubs and took the first steps into producing in the late 90s, repeatedly changing his sound from hip-hop/jungle/idm to the deep & warm techno and house music you hear today.

Brother G has also published a series of releases under other aliases; G- Transition, Evdokeem, Target 27 and Head 278 on various labels around the world such as Rawax, Boe, Udacha, Rough House Rosie, Denkbar, Chevengur Melody, Manuscript, Sale/Nova and his own imprints; Gravitysurfer and Mysterious Russian Soul.

[Artist Bio]
Shampoo Douglas is an artistic project by Ruben Lombroso and Alexander Folonari, two brothers on a mission from Kepler66. 

Ruben, currently based in Turin, is a sound artist, composer and performer graduated at the Institute of Sonology at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague (NL). Synthesizer enthusiast & record collector, he has brought his electro-acoustic work around several European festivals and concert halls. 

Later he devoted himself to explore and study rhythm based music, going back to his roots, drawing inspiration from early hip hop, proto house and the French techno rave scene. Alongside he keep composing music for theatre, videos and movies while teaching workshops on sound synthesis.

Alexander, born of Italo-German descent, currently based in Berlin, is an interdisciplinary artist, musician, composer, producer and engineer, with a degree in Recording Arts from Full Sail University in Orlando(FL). 

For over 12 years he has been dedicated to the research and development of inter-disciplinary art forms, with a strong foundation in dance and body music, but in no way confined by the traditional norms and methods for creating music.

He has since explored a variety of sonic palettes, and continues in his endeavour for discovering strange and unknown territories as well as traditional and classic approaches to the arts.

Through the ancient art of sound alchemy, the Douglas brothers present mixtures of cosmic funk, astral grooves and deep wonky sonic voyages for every kind of soul. 

They released music on various imprints such as Pager Records, Pluie/Noire Recordings, Secret Society Chile and Lemak Records and performed all over Europe, from Hoppetosse, OHM, Club Der Visionaere(Berlin), Robert Johnson(Frankfurt) and many others. 

Shampoo Douglas performs mostly live using a Laptop and a modular synth, blending studio prepared material with highly improvised gestures. In 2020, researching a new artistic environment, they joined the Berlin based artistic collective and booking agency @ringsofneptune to share creative thinking and sustainable growth.

Microwaves welcomes good friend Ruslan Levin (@djruslan), an NYC based DJ, Producer & label owner of Minim Records (@minim-records)

A veteran DJ, Ruslan began his career in 1995. He learned the craft from Matt E Love back in his Baselinelabs record shop in Framingham, Mass. He spent his time going through records and playing at the shop until famed Boston resident, DJ Manolo, noticed him and asked him to open for a live Jan Johnson performance. It went well, and he’s been laying down house music for the 20 years since, remaining motivated by his love of music and desire to keep the dance floor kicking.

In 2016, he began his passion project, Minim Records (@minim-records), a vinyl only platform, featuring artists like Pheek, Tijn, Jerome.c, Rithma, Coriesu, Kike Mayor, Yaroslav Lenzyak and more. The label allows him to find, fund, create, and release interesting music onto the scene.

And when he felt the need to express his musical ideas more freely, a new child was born: Great Empty Circle (@great-empty-circle), his very own imprint started in 2015, reserved exclusively for his tunes, also under Bhikkhu and Marvin Gain aliases.

A conscious explorer of the past and future sounds, Funk E demonstrates this effortlessly in his set with wobbly basslines, swung rhythms and tripped out melodies.
