Episode 40: Dave Clarke 

An extraordinary renegade talent, Dave's carved a career playing and making the finest underground electronic music charged with unrelenting energy and a punk ethos. Dave's influential album 'Archive One' was released in 1995 to critical acclaim - listed as one of John Peel's top 20 albums of all time. This was followed up with 2003's 'Devils Advocate' which continued to showcase his dedication to musical diversity laced with an incendury spirit. 

In 2001, he released the World Service Techno/Electro mixes, which are as integral to the scene today as they were then. He subsequently released a follow up before 'The Desecration Of Desire' came out in 2017. His live sets are legendary and have to be seen to be believed. Hear him play every week on his radio show for RTE which has over 800 episodes.

The narrative of the 46th BLVSHcast chapter, takes place in the USA with Maya Lunte (@maya-lunte). 
She began DJing in the Boston underground scene before moving to NYC; and curates music that makes her dance and smile.
She told us: "I wanted to create a techno mix that's driving yet elegant with a lot of texture, funk, and drama. This past year, I listened to a lot of dance music in the car, so with this mix I sought to soundtrack cruising around at night in a clubby dreamstate."

Total mixed emotions after this last year, including musically - been alot of drivel on the techno scene, and the club situation has obviously been frustrating - but there's still been lots of quality VAs and releases, and it's been good to see plenty of acts getting angry and political. Whether it's The Bug's apocalyptic remembrance of Grenfell, or Hide's terrifying condemnation of Brock Turner (via his dad's grovelling statement of support), there's been plenty to remind us that there's still alot of work to be done. Hopefully things go a bit more back to normal at last next year and we all get to feel safe on the dancefloor again . . .
