Lauren Lane – Cool Kids (Original)

This is a remix I did for Kaskade a few years ago. Taken from their self-released album: 'The Calm', this remix feature mainly the vocals from Haley Gibby on the original track (laid atop minimal layers of organic instruments bathed in reverb and omitting any drums or tempo-based elements). In other words, this is an ambient track turned house. It ended up never getting officially released (these things happen). So it's here for you to enjoy, and I hope you do!


Soft Upon The Lips by Kaskade - Remixed by MIDIhead (Hypermind Mix)

I wrote this track in my head and finally got around to making a patch library for Omnisphere 2. This gave me the sounds needed to lay it down, at least in instrumental depiction. The main melody you hear will be replaced by vocals... eventually. :)

While toying around with a vocoder, I wrote this quick little tune to help bring a little light into the darkness that some feel this time of year.

On This Winter's Night

Another collaboration comes your way, this time with the taste of Future Bass via Lars Hausmann of Brave New Word composing the music and Michael (MIDIhead) Babbitt of Monolithic on vocals and production.

Ahead of his highly anticipated self-titled debut album, Noir drops three new interpretations of album cut ‘Glass’, alongside Symbol, a singer songwriter producer from the Maryland/DC indie scene and one half of the Baltimore underground pop group Claire Hux. The package includes a remix from Reset Robot as well as new interpretations from Noir himself, all of which are distinct from the original album.
  
The Raw Club Cut offsets Symbol’s delicate vocal against a powerful, acid-flecked bassline that simmers patiently for the track’s duration, creating a tense tech-house thumper that crescendos beautifully with the addition of haunting strings and clattering snares. Reset Robot heads to darker territory, with a rolling bassline and moody stabs leading the way, while looped refrains of the vocal shimmer in the impending gloom. Tougher still is the Broken Glass Techno Dub. As the name suggests, this is pounding techno of the very highest order, with the distinct melody of the original all but replaced with rubbery, thunderous drums and scything synthetic stabs.

The widely beloved super-heroes Moonbootica & Ante Perry joined forces for an enthusiastic and seldom recording gathering. The masterly artists amaze with an extravagant floor-filler. Their “Look Out” composition focuses on building tension, but not at the expense of orientation and dynamics. It immediately sets an energetic vibe that will keep the crowd’s heart rate up. The crisp organ sounds and raw vocal fragments make it stand out in that regard. 

Juliet Fox’s remix takes it’s time and a slightly deeper approach, using only the original’s supporting pillars to form her slow burning interpretation. She replaces the peak-time effect work with a looser and more mystical rhythm. Making her version the perfect soundtrack for the sun-drenched early morning hours.

Denmark’s Kasúal adds futuristic pads and a slamming fresh bassline to his arrangement. It’s the most hypnotic track on this quality-release and features a handful of melodic break-downs that will keep you locked in from start to finish.

I really love the vibe on this one. It features brand new patches just added as an update to Fire Water, including one I created special for a friend of mine named Morris Hayes (formerly of Prince and the NPG). Listen for it toward the end of the track. It's the mellow lead sound I'm playing. :)

Michael (MIDIhead) Babbitt is a Los Angeles-based electronic music writer, remixer, producer, vocalist, and DJ. From the age of 8, he knew what he wanted to do. It was then that he first recognized music's cognitive and spiritual power, and envisioned a day where he would create it. At the age of 14 he began his musical endeavors as a DJ for a local radio station by day, and as a mobile DJ by night after finding professionals willing to train him on these crafts. By age 18 he was spinning vinyl at a popular local night club in his home town. But spinning other people's music wasn't his dream, so he fronted a band that eventually led him to perform for thousands.

Michael was awarded "Best Album of 2001" for his debut solo album "Power Undiminished" at The American Synthpop Awards in Hollywood. It was front man Kurt Harland from the 80's band Information Society who presented him with the award. After moving to Los Angeles, Michael shifted his role in music production to focus on media. His first track was heard in Fox's "Dark Angel", followed by landing a "Matrix Reloaded" movie trailer which opened up the floodgates for other television shows such as "Access Hollywood", "Dexter", "CSI" series, "America's Next Top Model", and "Prison Break", among others. His high energy remixes and original music has also been featured in Konami's popular Dance, Dance, Revolution video game series.

Michael has has recorded with artists Shane Gibson (Korn), Peter DiStefano (Porno For Pyros), and worked with Grammy nominated DJ: Kaskade, as well as Kaskade's side-project Late Night Alumni.

Michael's latest endeavors have him designing patches for Spectrasonics Omnisphere, distributed exclusively by ILIO. He has received critical acclaim for his patches by industry professionals and hit-making artists! Check out his sounds at: www.ilio.com/patches
