The table was lined with all manner of sweet treats and delicious desserts; it was a banquet fit for a king and queen. Just looking at the infinite options available was enough to make you feel full; cream cakes were perched alongside iced biscuits, macaroons and mountains of jelly, stretching as far as the eye could see. This was something as a child they could only dream of - could death by sugar be a thing?

For their first release of 2022, and their sixth to date, Taiwan's JIN 禁 Records call on the talents of South Korean artist Yetsuby, who makes up one half of ambient duo Salamanda. Her ability to create soundscapes driven by mood and emotion is still present on this EP, but this time she explores the realms of bass, DnB and IDM across four fresh cuts. On the flip, master of the remix New Zealand's Eden Burns puts his signature progressive trance spin on 'Jelly', twisting it into a psychedelic slow burner to keep those energy levels up.

'Fragments of Us', the 13-track debut album from DJ/Producer Midland is out now on Vinyl, CD & Tape format and across all digital and streaming outlets. The album comes via Midland’s own imprint, Graded. The cover art is a photo by his brother Dom Agius, and the type and graphics are by longtime friend and
designer, Nick Shea.

The full-length album from which the single is taken features the voices of some Midland’s artistic heroes including Marlon Riggs, David Wojnarowicz alongside the contemporary voices of Stereogamus’ Jonny Seymour and Horse Meat Disco’s Luke Howard.

While being bound to no genre behind the wheels of steel, his productions follow suit from moody house to brain wobbling Drum and Bass.

Wretla has opened for artists such as Ben UFO, K!NK, and Coeo; performed at Pitch, Lost Paradise, and Strawberry Fields, and delivered a memorable set at Boiler Room in Sydney. Since his move overseas, he has become a regular at Berlin's iconic Sisyphos.

Hot on the tail of two prior releases by Tapirus aka Rotterdam’s own Charlton, the MNSX series presents its 3rd instalment with none other than young John Heckle from Merseyside, UK with a remix by Tapirus.

Three incredible tracks from John Heckle make up this blistering hyperactive EP. Raw, acidy landscapes and analog drum programming are the trademarks of this artist and he displays his mastery in full force. Together with Tapirus, the result is a meeting of minds; an energetically harmonious release in similar spirit.

The title track ‘Wet Noises’ takes us full throttle into Heckle’s domain. Upfront drumming, acid bassline and soaring synths mix and melt in a dancing cosmic soup. Tinkling notes add signposts throughout the oceanic chaos, before the song reaches its ultimate arrival on shore.

‘Alpha Deux’’s beginning and deceptive ambient soundscape unfolds deliciously, evolving organically into a full blown Chicago acid workout. Let it reverse and play on for a secret easter egg ending!

On the B-side, Tapirus takes ‘Wet Noises’ to his territory on just as rough terrain. An acid bounce start slowly snakes its way into higher Asiatic ground with a hand of the mystical. Less of a remix in the traditional sense but an equally honourable version.

A special treat is reserved for last. B2’s ‘Frozen Planet’ is an evocative piece anchored by a broken beat and deep bassline. Brought alive by helter-skelter notes and wrapped up in soaring, mountain-high synth lines, it is a bright asteroid in the galaxy of John Heckle’s discography for us.

This week’s International Tribe mix comes from London producer and DJ Jeigo. 

With releases on labels such as Shadow City Soundsystem, Valby Rotary and more, Jeigo’s sound explores the deeper and more nostalgic timbres of the electronic scene. Taking influences from the elements of Detroit, Chicago, Berlin, and the UK, his production style looks into the realms of deep house, minimal, breakbeat, ambient and more.

With a forthcoming release on the newly formed label air miles and many more projects coming up in 2019, Jeigo delves deep into his record collection for his International Tribe mix, with unreleased cuts from himself and his close friends at Valby Rotary.
