This song came about with a random encounter with comedian Jimmy Carr, he said to us “all these girls are doing tracks like ‘I kissed a girl and I liked it’ but no guys have come out with ‘I can’t think straight when I’m with you’…you can have that for free.”  We then took this concept and wrote a song about a homosexual boy who grew up in a religious household and how it, wrongly, complicated his upbringing.

Taylor Roche further cements his musical roots and retro-Pop aesthetic in his new endeavour ‘Sucker for a Lonely Heart.’ His new single encapsulates a blend of 80s and 90s nostalgia with a heavy nod to influences such as Prince, INXS, Chicago and The Backstreet Boys fused with his love for modern Synth-Pop and R&B from artists like The Weeknd, Troye Sivan and The 1975. 

‘sucker for a lonely heart’ is Taylor’s nostalgic, Retro-Pop statement of 2021. It explores the crushing awareness that the person you’re so emotionally invested in has moved, leaving you in a floating space of romanticising something that’s no longer there, lost in an endless game of chase. Taylor joined forces with Auckland-based Pop and R&B producer Will Henderson in bringing this idea to life in the studio.  Keeping true to Taylor’s retro-Pop aesthetic, they built this track replicating a stack of 80s drums and arpeggiating, analogue synths. These drive heavily into the choruses fused with big vocal doubles that create a space of urgency, letting moments punch through on lines like “is it half-time yet?.” It’s these moments in the song that resonate the feelings of urgency and hysteria anyone would feel in this exact situation that ‘Sucker for a Lonely Heart’ tells.

Mount Famine are an 80s influenced indie rock n' roll band from Derby with big synth hooks, soaring vocals and dirty guitars. 'Lost' is their third single and follow up to 'Pulse' which was included in the actor Robert Carlyle's ‘Shit Year, Great Music' Spotify playlist in December 2020 as one of his favourite singles of the year.

Recording started in early 2020, and ‘Lost’ was finished in between lockdowns and is another step towards an album the band are writing and recording.

Mikalyn’s ascent in the music business has been an atypical journey thus far. She gained an initial unconventional foothold when a Brazilian record label called @RevenBeats discovered her original / piano-driven music on Soundcloud and offered to transform them into Dance & EDM hits. What followed were monster collaborations with the likes of @OwnbossOficial, @JetlagMusicOfficial, @Zuffomusic, @Evokings, @RQntz, @ZerkMusic, @DiskoverMe, @KohenMusic, among others. These collabs, released in labels such as Universal, Sony Music and Controversia / @SpinninRecords, although not the direction she expected to take at the beginning of her career, were crucial stepping stones in building her repertoire and fanbase, ultimately introducing new listeners to her original alt-pop stylings. The Canadian singer-songwriter from Guelph pens relatable songs which touch on relationships and her experienced emotions.

 Inspired by the likes of Amy Winehouse, Adele, Billie Eilish, Halsey, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, Melanie Martinez and Ellie Goulding, Mikalyn’s sound is a vibrant and colourful blend of infectious pop melodies, soaring vocals and polished production. With millions of streams for her music to date, she has received airplay on CBC radio and her songs being placed on numerous Spotify editorial playlists, including "Indie Pop", "Bedroom Pop", "EQUAL Canada" and Brazil's "Dance Paradise" - where she was featured on the cover.
  
 With a one-of-a-kind style and unwavering drive, Mikalyn shows no signs of slowing down on her already impressive trajectory as she launches her indie-pop career.
