Something that really resonates with me about it, is that the magic of it is that it can only be revealed in the darkness.  So jump in, swim, float, go with the flow, go deep, and find solace in the return to the shores where the water meets the earth.

🌊 I can't even begin to describe how beautiful it was to DJ an ecstatic dance on a beach, looking at the bright blue ocean the whole time on the island of Maui, with dancers everywhere, swimming, grooving and feeling it all, together, outside in the sunshine. So, I'll let the music express it 🐋

As I stepped onto the Earth Stage at the Texas Eclipse Festival 2024, a rush of excitement flooded through me. It was an honor beyond words to have the opportunity to share my music with the vibrant souls gathered under the canopy of Texas skies. Little did I know that the next few hours would be a journey of transcendence, as the energy of the crowd surged and swirled around us.

The crowd began as a humble gathering, but as the beats echoed through the air, it seemed to grow exponentially, swelling to a couple of thousand souls united by their love for music and the promise of connection. It was as if the very essence of the festival came alive in that moment, pulsating with anticipation and possibility.

As I delved into my set, the energy of the crowd became palpable, a tangible force that seemed to weave its way through the air, connecting each person in a shared experience of euphoria. The music served as our conduit, guiding us on a journey of exploration and self-discovery.

With each beat, each melody, the energy began to coalesce into a tribal frenzy, a rhythmic dance of heaving souls seeking enlightenment through the transformative power of sound. It was a beautiful chaos, a symphony of movement and emotion that transcended language and culture.

As the night unfolded, I found myself lost in the moment, swept up in the collective energy of the crowd. Together, we danced beneath the stars, our spirits soaring as we surrendered ourselves to the music, to each other, and to the magic of the festival.

The next day, in those fleeting hours, time seemed to stand still as we basked in the glow of the Texas Eclipse, our hearts and minds open to the infinite possibilities that lay before us.  I knew that I had experienced something truly special—a moment of pure connection and communion that would stay with me long after the festival had ended.

Performing at the Texas Eclipse Festival 2024 was more than just a gig; it was a privilege, a gift, a chance to be a part of something greater than myself. And as I stepped off the stage, heart full and soul alight, I knew that I would carry the memory of that night with me forever, a reminder of the power of music to unite, to inspire, and to transform.

Bicycle Day at The Midway, San Francisco, 2024—an electrifying celebration of Dr. Albert Hofmann's psychedelic journey. Amidst the industrial charm, I performed, feeling the collective energy guide my music. Open spaces fostered liberation, inviting creative exploration.

Surrounded by fellow artists like David Starfire and Jeff Stott, we shared stories and reveled in creativity. Together, we embodied the essence of community and collaboration.

Bicycle Day wasn't just about the music; it was about embracing the present and envisioning a future of transformation through art and music. As the night unfolded, faces aglow with euphoria, I felt gratitude for the opportunity to share in this magical experience.

The pulsating beat reverberated through the room, igniting a collective energy that transcended mere movement. As I stepped behind the decks, the crowd before me shimmered like a sea of souls, each one ready to surrender to the rhythm. It was an Oakland Ecstatic Dance night, and I was about to embark on a musical voyage that would intertwine hearts and spirits.

 The first notes emerged, and bodies swayed, eyes closed, as if seeking connection beyond the physical. The bassline wrapped around us, creating a cocoon of sound where judgments dissolved, and vulnerability blossomed.

The dance floor pulsed with life. Ecstatic dancers moved freely, their movements unscripted, yet harmonious. We were no longer separate entities; we were threads woven into a cosmic tapestry of joy.

As the music intensified, I felt the crowd’s heartbeat sync with mine. Their sweat-slicked bodies moved in unison, a celebration of life’s raw beauty. Eyes met, smiles exchanged, and for those fleeting minutes, we were a tribe—a tribe that danced away worries, fears, and doubts. The barriers dissolved, leaving only the shared pulse of existence.

As the night wound down, long time music production client, Bonwyn Alya and I closed the event with a meditation. After wards she whispered, “Thank you.” Her words echoed in my heart, a reminder that music and meditation could heal, uplift, and connect. We had co-created magic—an ephemeral masterpiece etched in the memories of everyone present.

And so, under the dim lights of Oakland Ecstatic Dance, I learned that joy wasn’t a solitary pursuit—it was a shared rhythm, a dance of souls entwined. 🌈🌿

Invitation: Dance to Breathe, Breathe your Dance

You are invited to explore the relationship and connection between dance and breath. How can we use our breath to empower and enrich our dance? See if you can use the one to empower the other. 

Using a high arching wave progression in this set, various types of rhythms and sounds are used to inspire movement and breath in a way that will unlock the pathway to your heart.

This set was recorded and played at the Asheville Movement Collective on a crisp wintery Sunday morning. Special thanks to Michael Heard for acting as supporting facilitator and helping provide feedback on this set as it came together.

This is the 2nd of two waves played on Jan 12, 2020. Both of them brought me to tears at the end, which is what I had been hoping to accomplish. There's so much grief inside of my that I am trying to clear. May this music be the medicine to let it all go.
