Our cozy Island, nestled deep in a valley, surrounded by river and waterfalls and covered by green grass is hosting The Swamp stage. Hottest and most memorable part of the festival's location is home to Dark Progressive, Psy Bass, Dub, Breaks, Techno, Glitch and other various styles of music. With PSYCHEDELIC as only common denominator and DANCE as the main philosophy behind it.

When we started building Mo:Dem accordingly to our vision of festival with three musical stages, the role of The Swamp was a crucial one. Basic idea was to generate counterbalance to the faster and heavier musical styles presented at The Hive. Creating 'alternative stage' wasn’t our intention. Rather we imagined The Swamp as the extension of same psychedelic dance experience. Possibility to select between artists coming from a wide spectrum of psychedelic music gave us an opportunity to succeed in our plan. As Swamp literally and figuratively means diversity and variety, this was set as the main guideline for this stage in the future.

We are happy that we can share with you some sounds from 2017. edition. This time we are presenting you Breger.

Sounds of the Dawn NTS Radio May 26th 2018 VALLEY OF THE SUN SPECIAL PART III

The Amazon is burning. Its rich fauna and flora, as well as its indigenous people, are in danger. The Rainforest is vital for life on earth, and we need to see this crisis as a catalyst for action.   

This set was recorded live at Newspeak in Montreal, and was made with all my heart. The intention is to raise awareness toward the urgency of the fundamental changes we must undertake as a species. 

We need to rethink our relationship with the Earth: The Occidental way of life is certainly comfortable and sometimes makes us feel like anything is possible… But hidden from our eyes is a plethora of highly unsustainable practices that need to stop immediately.

This ritual is inspired by Ecstatic Dance and my 10+ years experience with Tantra, coaching, personal development and mindfulness practices.

The word "Shamanic" is used a lot, and still, it expresses best what we’re creating.
For me, "Shamanic" means acknowledging that everything is and has energy. That we can come into greater resonance with some energies that are beneficial for us.
It means quieting the mind and getting deeper into the body, the senses, the sensations.
It means expanding our intuition as to how to move and interact with others.
It means bringing intention, awareness and sacredness into every action.
It means connecting to nature and to what is natural for us as spiritual animals.
The dance and movement are pathways into pleasure, healing and empowerment.
They are portals into recognizing and living who we really are.
This dance is our offering, our sanctuary, our liberation, and our spiritual practice.

Before we breakthrough, we must face the breakdown. What is breaking down in your life?

When something breaks down, it provide us with an opportunity to observe, respond, grow and breakthrough to a new way of not just surviving, but thriving in life.

In this dance, you are invited to hold the image of what is breaking down in your life. It could be something external in your world, or a long held belief. Let it express itself in your dance. Give it form, give it life, give it the profound opportunity to move through you. Take this opportunity to face it fully.

By giving the breakdown a means to express itself, the nature of its energy can begin to transform, revealing the underlying root cause and/or belief behind it.

If the dance pushes you to the point of breaking down, you are invited to move to the next step.

Embody love and compassion.

Perhaps this expresses itself through your dance as stillness, or a gentle flow, or deeper breathing patterns. However it expresses, envision love and compassion enveloping you and your dance.

Feel all the feels, and hold yourself and the breakdown you have faced with love and courage.

Remember... breakthrough emerges from the breakdown. We’ll see you on the other side.

This set was played as part of an online dance for the Asheville Movement Collective during a period of quarantine and general unrest surrounding Covid-19. With so many of our lives disrupted, it is a potent time to take notice of what is breaking down. I'm grateful for the feedback I received from my fellow AMC facilitators and friends who continue to educate me on the art of mix making and conscious dance.
