"Winter  Wonderland" is a very popular Holiday song written in 1934 by Felix Bernard and lyricist Richard Smith.  Using an excellent acoustic bass backing track by MrSunnybass, I used this song as a musical template to create a Christmas song blend . I hope you can recognize the various holiday songs superimposed on the "Winter Wonderland chordal pattern".

Christmas:  Looking Like; It's Here, and I'm Coming Home For It!

As we put up our Christmas trees to start the Holiday celebrations, this song will certainly add to the festive occasion.  Based on a traditional folk song, the lyrics do not refer to a Christmas tree or describe a decorated Christmas tree.  Tannenbaum is a fir tree and the song refers to the tree's evergreen quality as a symbol of constancy and faithfulness.  The bass backing track is the creation of one of the fine European bassists, Mauro Sereno (Mr. Sunnybass).

"O Tannenbaum" (With Acoustic Bass)

This song, written in 1945 by Robert Wells and Mel Torme, is one of the most performed Christmas songs of all time.  Nat King Cole's recorded one of the most popular versions of the song. The bass backing track on this recording is the creation of one of the fine European bassists, Mauro Sereno (Mr. Sunnybass).

The Christmas Song (Piano and Acoustic Bass)

As we prepare for the New Year 2025, this beautiful song seems very appropriate.  It is based on a traditional African-American spiritual by A. L. Hatter, thought to be the composer. This is a song of comfort which is based on Psalm 23 and has these words as the refrain: 
"There will be no sorrow there...
We will meet our loved ones there...
We shall meet our Savior there...
He will wipe away ev'ry tear..."
One of the best known and loved arrangements is by Moses Hogan for a choral setting.  I have used the Hogan arrangement as a template for my own piano solo arrangement.

My goal with this site is to present an eclectic approach to piano, instrumental, and vocal music with a focus on religious music and the American Songbook.  I have incorporated various musical styles and venues into my music including traditional, gospel, contemporary, classical, pop, and mainstream jazz.  It is my hope that listeners will be able to identify with one or more of the musical styles and enjoy my arrangements and compositions.  I am also a nature/wildlife photographer and hope that my music reaches a diverse audience just as biodiversity is a theme of nature and wildlife.
