I do not support the use of generative AI in music creation. I will not support people who use such technologies nor will I use them. The two songs I posted only serve to raise awareness of the existence of such technologies and as a warning.

At the beginning I would like to sincerely apologize that I am responding to comments late and I am sometimes unable to keep up with listening to your work, but I still work full-time in a profession that has absolutely nothing to do with music and I have my duties towards family and home.

To everyone who flew into my corner on SoundCloud: I am grateful for your support with likes, shares and thank you for the great comments. Please don't hesitate to suggest changes to my music in them. Thanks to this, the next songs will be better and better.

Born in 1970. Music fan since 1985. Now heaving fun with making music. I'm self-taught, playing everything by ear. Started in 1990's but due to certain circumstances left in 1998 until April 2022. My music is created in Ableton Live 11 Intro (until december 2022) and 11 Standard with mostly free plug-ins. Fan of soundtracks (my personal heros are John Williams, Clint Mansell, Philip Glass, Thomas Newman, Hans Zimmer and much more), world music (Dead Can Dance), chillout (Bent, Zero7, Groove Armada, St. Germain, Air, Röyksopp, Kosheen and more), trip-hop (Massive Attack, Portishead), acid jazz (Us 3), fusion (Pat Metheny Group, Dirty Loops), progressive rock (Porcupine Tree), classical (Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Debussy, Orff, Mussorgsky) electronica (Imogen Heap), IDM/House (Moderat, Apparat, Plaid) and electronic music (Vangelis, Kraftwerk, Isao Tomita, Marek Biliński, J.J. We like to make music and art.  We like strangeness.  We use computers.

I'm here to share and appreciate all genres of music.  Most of what I am currently recording is electronic, and largely ambient, in nature; however, I have recently started recording cover songs of various tunes.  So, since I'm no longer strictly ambient (only mostly), I've changed my SoundCloud name to Smooth Waters Sonic Journeys.  Headphones greatly enhance the listening experience. Tchad Blake, sonic architect for Tom Waits and Elvis Costello, agreed: “Strange Part of the Country is an amazing album. I still listen to it.”

Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green was also a fan, making a rare visit to Conil’s studio to record a mellow take on “Woke Up Around Midnight,” his smoky tribute to the jazz greats.

Conil’s distinct sound has drawn praise from Marc Ribot, Davey Graham, Pino Palladino, and John Leckie - artists and producers known for recognising the real thing when they hear it.

Upon release, Strange Part of the Country made quiet but lasting waves. Q Magazine gave it four stars and a Q Recommends stamp. Blues Matters Magazine put Conil on the cover, calling him “one of the most original artists out there.” In the U.S., “Years Between” climbed to number three on the Alternative Radio Chart.

Raised in England on the Rolling Stones, the Velvet Underground, and Tom Waits, Conil later lived in some of the world’s most musically charged cities - New Orleans, New York, Chicago, Austin and Berlin - chasing sound wherever he went.

That began early. He travelled far, met the Dalai Lama, climbed Kilimanjaro, and crossed the Himalayas - experiences that shaped his perspective and his music.

He is now finishing his long-awaited second album - recorded in New Orleans, Chicago, London and Greece - with Danny Thompson, Tchad Blake and more.

I love making music that soothes, inspires, and rejuvenates.

My creative journey began as a visual artist, and now I'm concentrating my energy into creating music that can instantly impact minds and moods for the better. 

Almost all of my music is chill @ -100 bpm to hopefully stimulate calm and feelings of well-being in listeners as it does for me. 💙

I don’t use AI or samples. My music is original, digital, and composed using a MIDI keyboard and DAW. I also record live LoFi audio of ambient sounds such as birdsongs or rainstorms using an iPhone or a microphone connected to laptop.

I’ve been called Rebecca of Sunnybrook like the children’s book because of my birth name but call me Beck like my friends do. I chose Sunnybeck to use as my nickname as I’m an eternal optimist and love the sun.
