Lowtism - Take Me Back

Berlin-based duo https://soundcloud.com/lowtism’s friendship started early enough that they were able to experience a series of firsts together. First hangovers, first girlfriends, and the genesis of their musical partnership - their first computer with a cracked copy of Fruity Loops. Starting out with the goal of mimicking the work of their favourite artists on Soundcloud, what they consider a homogenization of musical styles left a bad taste in their mouth. This prompted them to seek inspiration from genres such as 2-step, UK garage, classic rock, blues, jazz, and Japanese funk.

'Take Me Back' is an ode to a life-changing trip to Japan taken by Jaye, one half of Lowtism. Jet engines and connecting flight announcements during the track’s build up set a smooth tone for what is ultimately a funky and celebratory homage to a host of sensations and experiences that only travel can offer. Synth riffs layered over 80s J-pop horns and peppered with live guitar licks take the senses along for the ride.
