With the voice of Rag'n'bone Man, looks of James Dean and style of Paolo Nutini, Martin Mae manages to bring old world charm to the 21st century. Hearing his music for the first time, one would be surprised that all of his visuals aren't black, white and grainy. While his lyrics are deeply personal and genuine, Martin always makes sure to withhold enough to keep us guessing. To better convey his unique observations of the world, Martin has chosen to strip his music down to the bone, leaving only piano and backing vocals, letting the lyrics really shine through. Applauded for his “mastery of piano” by Lola Magazine, Martin implements his classical piano skills to convey his melancholic and captivating melodies.
