Each year there is a celebration for Piano Day. It falls on the 88th day of each year. In case you don't know the significance of the number 88, it's the amount of keys on a piano keyboard. I have had a love affair, over the past 3 years, with recording real pianos, so once again, I pulled of the front & top panels of an old "Beale" upright, positioned Royer 121 ribbon mics left & right & then set a Nuemann U87 directly in the middle above the hammers. Then I rolled the tape & just improvised this tune. Many people have been feeling meaningless, due to the Covid 19 restrictions & how it has changed our lives. Isolation, lack of socialisation, fear for the future & so on. This tune was born from these initial feelings, but has an optimistic ring to it. Enjoy.

‘Circles’ is the peaceful debut single from Star Age, whose musical roots as a pianist come full circle with this release. It was recorded on the artist’s Steinway grand that has been passed down through generations. The New York based artist has played on Broadway, in five-star hotels, recorded for artists and created award-winning music as a composer.

Fun Facts:
Leaving Home (Coda) is actually a bonus track.
This coda was something we discovered at the end of the mix of Leaving Home.
It appears to be just some guitar noodling that happened once the take was finished and the tape was still running.
There's a certain poignancy to it, like a final farewell, so we included it here.
When the lyrics for Leaving Home begin, they are describing the scene in George's room in real time.
Some of the lyrics are by turn fascinating, wistful, poignant and telling.
There is rather a lot of reverb on here, from the same source as for Secret Subsociety.
The drum machine is again the Boss DR 220A.
The EDP Wasp also makes a few appearances.
Leaving Home was never performed by any band.
The bass was tuned to a drop-D for this song.

Words cannot yet describe what this sombre piano improvisation means at this moment. where the music hopefully 'speaks' for itself, produced with a beautiful ambience and depth added to the piano by John Styles.  

A full Orchestral version of this piece is also in the planning ….

This music was initially inspired by watching images of terrorism and the fallout, the chaos and people running in fear  .. it was these horrifying images I saw as I played this music watching a silent TV … a reflection of so many lost opportunities for beautiful, carefree people, of those who were lost, and for the survivors, and their families and friends and the heroes who risked their lives.  These feelings were also expressed with John Styles, but I still cannot find words which are adequate enough to convey the depths of such sorrow……   Perhaps only music can achieve this

Declining health stopped me from uploading this track until now but I, and others, continue to keep going, in the belief and hope that life will change for the better  ….

It is this unknown in what may await us that inspired this piece …. but It is also this hope that we must hold onto if ever we undergo change, loss or grief in our lives…. Hope and peace within …. to continue on despite our external circumstances, for life can be filled with such joy, which we must try never to lose sight of…. even the simplest of things,… the flowers that bloom, the leaves blowing in the breeze, the singing of birds and the sun on our faces ……  to find a safe place within ourselves where we cannot be touched and where inner peace and silence holds strong …and solidarity of all helps us to carry on

With great pleasure and excitement I want to invite you to this magical journey into the world of "Abracadabra!". This album took us a whole year to compose and record - from August 2019 to August 2020. When we were close to finishing it up, we faced this difficult choice - what track to select for making a music video. It was a challenge! This whole album was composed as a cinematic adventure, so, basically, any track from it can be turned into the music video. We ended up asking all the participating musicians for their favorite tracks. It was quite symbolic that "Time" - the opening track - won the majority of the votes. This music video is the result of few months of scouting for locations, shaping the costume, makeup and accessories, filming and editing. We all hope you will enjoy it.

I want to thank again everyone who was a part of this project: 
- Phil DiMercurio (aka PdubJamz) for his drums and percussion truly transformed the album.
- Yamaha Artist Yoed Nir for the wondrous cello.

There are others making fabulous tunes, but no one is more prolific while maintaining a high standard of pole to pole invention, and that applies to the lyrics too. I won't escape obscurity and oblivion, but that proves nothing, the internet is way, way, WAY overcrowded with unsigned music, way too much mediocre stuff, which obscure anything exceptional out there; the wood hidden away behind lots and lots and LOTS of trees, and no one has the time to look for needles in haystacks, to find a diamond in the rough, it's just way too big a task, not humanely possible!

INVENTIVE, AUTHENTIC, DIVERSE MUSIC, INVENTIVE, AUTHENTIC, IMAGINATIVE LYRICS, but those are the last things the vast majority of listeners are looking for these days!

Listening to just one of my tunes tells you nothing about my creative approach, listening to ten of my tunes will still tell you very little, listen to a hundred of my tunes and the penny will start to drop, but it's only after hearing 500+ of my creations and collaborations that your eyes will widen in amazement! 
However, if you don't have unlimited eclectic taste none of that applies, and the reality is, who, in this world, is going to listen to every tune I've created, no one--if even one tune is heard from beginning to end it's a minor miracle, because sadly, there is a belief that unsigned means inferior, but I've heard enough tunes by the rest of you guys to know that's a myth, that's bullshit, we create some of the most inventive, authentic, imaginative tunes out there!
