Helge Tømmervåg aka Mind over MIDI is a mysterious figure coming from the deep north of Europe, Norway. Residing in Kristianssund, Tømmervåg explored electronic msuic since his techno excursions in the late nineties to then land into the ambient/dub/experimental realms. Mind over MIDI has been a trustworthy beacon in the icey seas of Nordic electronic music.

The man behind the much loved bespoke imprint Cotton Goods, Other Ideas and the Moteer/Mobeer labels. He makes beautifully modest and understated music, highly recommended to fans of life's subtler joys.

"A lot of times it’s not only the sound itself but also the way it has deteriorated. I just love the crackle of vinyl, the saturated distortion of analogue tape, the hiss of wax-cylinders, the aging process of the artifact itself is equally important as the sounds themselves. For the fourth installment of our ‚Identity formation‘ podcast series, we are happy to present Mind over MIDI (@mind-over-midi-1). Hailing from Kristiansund on the northwest coast of Norway, Helge Tømmervåg has been crafting electronic sounds since the early '80s. His earliest work recorded under the now-familiar Mind over MIDI moniker arrived in the early '90s. His music can be described as sounds for daydreamers and nighthinkers. Inspired by the icy winds, snowy vistas and frozen landscapes in Norway.
