KUMQUAT went deep into the suburbs of Buenos Aires and hunted Oswld.
On a period of intense creativity and under a new moniker: 04LM project was launched.
With eponymous name the 12” EP release explores a deeper side of techno, harmonious and combined with melodic synth patches.

Sensitive and lacerating, 04LM got some inspiration from movie sound composers such as Angelo Badala- menti (o.s.t. Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet) and Giorgio Moroder (o.s.t Midnight Express, Scarface).

Oswld put his imprint of the remix, rhythmic with Detroit techno influences, whose past releases at Non Series got strong support by representative of the genre such as Ben Klock, Dustin Zahn, Chris Liebing, Truncate, Jonas Kopp, and more.

Member of the dub techno community, the New York based South African Brendon Moeller aka Echologist put his signature on two driving remixes with organic sounds and experimental approach. After his 9th album and countless releases Brendon reinvents himself with every track he produces. “His goal is first and foremost, to create timeless, quality music that resonates with people from all walks of life”.

I discovered Frankie Knuckles through his music, one that was, gentle, lush with a subdued, understated power that rocked many a dancefloor.
I had the privilege to hear him once in the heyday of his legendary residency at Sound Factory Bar in New York. I was submerged, sonically and emotionally by the beauty of the music I heard that night. I remember very clearly saying to myself that this would be impossible to ever equal.
That was 20 years ago, and I never got to hear this magic combination again.

I got to meet Frankie a few times, and he was always like his music, gentle, humble,   yet naturally imposing

I've put together here some of my favorite music from him. So that his legacy can keep on inspiring other people.

Rest in peace, Frankie, may your music keep on moving people eternally

"Bee Nose (Put Yr Face On)" is a loosey-goosey, late-night drunk dial from Glasgow (ca. 1998) that stumbles along a familiar vapor trail to a warm & waiting bed.  Blue Oyster Cult meets Boards of Canada. Brassica twists this track into a spacey Atlantean mix complete with stuttering breaks and a Carribean shuffle, while Riley Ace of Spies drones away like a Pete Kember worker bee.

Void Vision is a Philadelphia-based electronic project helmed by Shari Vari. It began around 2009 at a time when a wave of synth-revivalists were materializing, but the quality of the songwriting and intense vocals set the band apart from the pack. In a rare instance, Void Vision has managed to combine vintage dance elements with melodic structures, haunting melancholy, and lyrics that have a palpable soul. The songs themselves are dynamic, referencing a cross-section of the last 30 years of electronic music, while simultaneously retaining a uniqueness all their own.

Wierd Records weekly club night in New York, which showcased a variety of talented electronic and coldwave artists, served as an incubator for Void Vision in it’s early stages. After a standout debut performance at the club, they immediately caught the attention of Blind Prophet Records, who consequently released their first 7″ single, ‘In 20 Years’, which received excellent reviews.

Vari has continued performing and recording steadily over the last few years, releasing songs on compilations for various labels, including Rough Trade, and in 2012 the song ‘Everything is Fine’ was selected for Artforum magazine’s ‘Best of 2012′ issue. In 2013, Void Vision toured the West Coast and later that year released a split 12″ with Portland-based band, Vice Device. The first official full-length album, entitled ‘Sub Rosa’ is set to debut on Berlin-based Mannequin Records, followed by a European tour in 2015.

Shari Vari formed Void Vision in 2009 originally as a duo, during the explosion of the new minimal synth and cold wave scene in United States. Sharing the same scene of the Wierd Records associates like Led Er Est, Martial Canterel, Xeno & Oaklander, Automelodi, in 2010 VV released ‘In Twenty Years’ on Blind Prophet (Sean Ragon’s Cult Of Youth record label), receiving also the attention of the Rough Trade dudes, who asked to put out a track for one of their synth wave compilations.
After other split vinyls, tapes and compilations, Mannequin approached Shari with the intention to continue what Wierd Records started, giving a proper shape to her beautiful and youthful dark electronic sound. The result is 10 hypnotic cold analog tracks dominated by the warm and fragile Shari’s voice, some more “pop orientated” some others belonging to the original “cold wave” atmosphere.

“Sub Rosa” is an edition of 400 copies on 160 gram black vinyl and 100 copies on 160 gram white vinyl.

We are really proud to announce the reissue of one of the most important Dutch Wave bands THE ACTOR, with their seminal 1982 tape "EXPLODED VIEW". "In the beginning of the eighties, a new phenomenon emerged: home taping. This way of recording resulted in a lot of noise. But that was less important then getting one’s music out to the public. A well known label for cassette bands in those days was the dutch Trumpett Tapes. They were the first to publish the music of The Actor, who became their top selling cassette band in 1982 and 1983. The Actor’s first release was Exploded View in 1982. The songs – sung both in English and German – often related to fashion, modernism, dancing and appearence. This made The Actor “quite fashionable."

Limited silskcreen art edition for the first 50 copies, 160 gram white vinyl.

Julian Grefe and Justin Geller have been working together for the best part of a decade now releasing a string of singles and albums that have gained the Pink Skull name a hallowed respect. The duo’s shared love of early disco and primitive electronic music has been instrumental in forging their sound and ensured that their take on things is always far from predictable. Now Grefe & Geller have joined forces with Joe Lentini (Schematic, L.I.E.S.) for their latest offering to be released by the everexcellent, Toronto based My Favorite Robot Records, the label that has stormed its way through 2012 with music from the likes of Jori Hulkkonen. Fairmont, Sasse, Tom Demac & Tiger Stripes.
The ‘Definitive Gauze EP’ opens with stunning ‘Germ Free Iridscent’, an off kilter slice of electronic music that taps into elements of techno, ambient, drum & bass and electro whilst never quite being any of the above. Swirling FX and an ever-shifting arrangement give the track an otherworldly feel and help make a record that has a truly unique feel. Second of the five sees Pink Skull shift into acidic techno mood for the rolling rhythms of ‘Laotion Size’, a track which morphs between a heads down warehouse groove and its quirky electro interludes. ‘Primitive, Jelly Covered’ comes next with its discordant ethereal synth lines and tape-delayed stabs sitting over a deep insistent backing track,
quality stuff. Penultimate title track ‘Definitive Gauze’ offers up a squelchy slice of techno with some deep, Detroit influences and finally the excellent ‘Taupe Heroics’ journey into blissful ambient territory with a retro inspired soundscape that conjures up the best of Tangerine Dream, sublime.
