Over the last ten years, Gumm graduated from being an active promoter hosting renegade parties in obscure public spaces to performing at Melbourne's biggest festivals, including Let Them Eat Cake, Pitch Music & Arts and smalltown. As co-founder of Melbourne brand Darklove, he hosted international acts The Drifter and Damon Jee to go with regular bookings supporting Maceo Plex, DJ Koze, Jennifer Cardini, Stephan Bodzin, Job Jobse, Ben Klock, ANNA, Folamour, Mind Against and more.

Not only is he regular in Melbourne clubs (Revolver Upstairs, Bourke Street Courtyard and Glamorama to name a few), but recent performances at Melbourne's leading festivals earmarked him as an act for the bigger stage. At the end of 2020, he tasted his first interstate booking when he was flown to Byron Bay to headline a 2021 NYE event.

His recent debut single "Struck", released on Berlin-based Ombra International, the in-vogue label run by indie-dance maestro Curses, served as a crucial entry point into the global scene. The single is a highly infectious dance cut designed to suck you into its dark disco inferno, catching the attention of the underground scene's leading players. With his recent sold-out headline show selling over 500 tickets, Gumm is well situated to be at the Melbourne forefront of a new, compelling global sound with roots in genres like nu-wave, indie-dance and nu-disco. 

About The edit : " Sassafras (aka. Josh my housemate) and I were returning from buying groceries and he asked what I thought about editing Kim Wilde - You Keep Me Hangin' On. We had spoken about writing some music together so it was a perfect chance to have a play. Sass' love for the original was contagious and I soon became attached myself. The process was incredibly enjoyable and the result is now one of my favourite projects."

Signed by prolific composer Omri Smadar, the digital EP also includes remixes by French producer Yuksek and Jordanian musician Shadi Khries. 

Based in Tel Aviv, Omri Smadar’s life is all about composing and connecting, playing and performing, studying and story-telling. From deep history and complex theory to the dark art of dot joining, the academically trained composer and pianist is neck deep in all aspects of the culture and artform. He worked with Correspondant, Tel Aviv’s Blue Shadow and collaborated with well-known musicians such as Siam and Fortis, and to extensive remixes, edits and remoulds of influential Israeli music, such as debut album ‘Collage’ [Nana Disc 2020] 

Phase of Motion EP surrounds the idea of fusing organic-traditional human singing and playing with the electronic music dancefloor attitude. Omri’s work is known for interweaving organic, synthetic and analog. This EP is a perfect example, with its heady vocals and chants going hand in hand with percussion and machine sounds. 
Omri places great importance on the common experience the sharing of music creates. That’s why he produced “Phase of Motion” with some of his close friends: Nenor, Roy Shpilman, Shlomo Gronich and Yogev Haruvi.

Adama (written with Shlomo Gronich and produced with Roy Shpilman) samples the "Sheba Band" - an Israeli-Ethiopian children choir from the early 90's.

In the summer of 2022 Niels Docter aka. Doctr, will release a full length album on the Copenhagen based label "Music For Dreams".  
Part of the album will be "Kisses In The Dark", which is his collab single with vocalist PYN.
The song will be (spoiler alert) the only vocal track on the album, so for its single release Niels wanted to do something special.
Therefore he asked Tjade to remix the original and luckily for Niels, Tjade jumped right on it. 

After highly successful edits like Koi Jaye, Maadna Bkra & Sahrany and remixes for Biesmans, Rees & Count van Delicious, Tjade now takes a stab at reworking Doctr’s new single “Kisses In The Dark”. Where the original is a more downtempo Italo and Electropop infused vocal roller, Tjade takes a different approach by sampling the vocal hook and putting it together with Trance and Eurodance instrumentals. Higher BPM’s and an uplifting energy guarantee a proper dance floor killer.

CYDA was born in April 17th, 1991 in Bandung Indonesia. He has a musician gene from his mother who works as Indonesian traditional singer (sinden). He began his musical career when he was in senior high school in 2007 and established a band specializing in chiptune genre.
Thenceforward, he and his musical genre were like a solid soulmate.
Musician, Arranger, Producer and DJ, his musical tastes are mostly Dark disco, italo disco, synthwave and house music.
He won several awards in the Indonesian electronic dance music industry ( 2017 producer of the year paranoia award, 2018 house dj of the year paranoia award), and promote some indonesian parties called " cyda and friends".
He released several ep and tracks  on label such as soulfooled ( alex niggemann's imprint) or Ritmo Fatale ( with the hit " Machine").
He now works also as Music Director.

This song really impressed me because it's my mother's favorite.  
I always remember when i was in elementary school in the 90s my mother always played this song in the morning  when i was getting ready for school. 
this has a very deep meaning for me, so i absolutely wanted to edit this track !

The compilation is filled with synth heavy swings, acid basslines, steamy vocals and lots of fun, making NTITB Vol. 2 the perfect entrance release into the new year.
Cormac says; No Tears In The Backroom Vol. 2 is a unique family with offerings from Polari hitmakers such as Jordan Nocturne, ROTCIV, & Louis de Tomaso as well as introducing new talent to the roster including DJ City,Nimmo, Shay Shaz, Hifi Sean, Joshua James + Xols.
I curate the compilation much as I do a DJ set, so there is a voyage of sorts in listening to the compilation as a whole.
I encourage the listener to listen as you would an album, although they of course work solo as well.

A 10-track long journey forms a unique force of anthemic sounds, tapping into nostalgia but never pulling away from today's references. No Tears In The Backroom Vol. 2 serves as a dance-heavy pursuit aiming to not hold back.

The label profits from the new compilation are going to charity. Polari has previously raised money for All Out.

With their own interpretations of what an ‘Odyssey’ could be like, Panthera opted for what we think is a modern EBM interpretation of reality. While this reality may seem like a stripped off version of reality, don’t be fooled! There’s an intricate amount of detail waiting to be explored.

My Secret Playground turned ‘Laser Shooting’ into an acid trip, exploring possible and parallel dimensions which seems both creepy and hauntingly beautiful, by adding additional melodies to the original. 

Austher turned ‘Clear Mind’ into a real powerhouse. A very adventurous powerhouse that despite all the power, feels somewhat more optimistic. If there was any fuel missing in the tank, it’s because Austher’s version used up all of it.

Looking back to Plexi Glass debut EP “Echoes From Space”, released in 2023 on Ulla Records, we thought those tracks all had a potential to be remixed. So we asked 5 talented producers that we adore to revisit them, and share with us their very own artistic vision ! 

First we have Gewaltem, who took some subtle deviation to create his own darker, cold wave-ish remix of “Magma Punch”. Then Anastasia Zems propose us to discover a more proggy side of “Hypnotic Marble”, laying some vocals of her own in the mix. Desire is next, and she delivers an explosive and uplifting club-ready remix of “Dust On The Road”. We also wanted to give a twist of our own to the release, so Austher took “Core Of The Meteor” to a more italo-trance field. As for King Day, the Belgian producer Pianopoli opted for a bit of attitude to his fresh new look while still remaining true to the original, still very much inspired by the 80s and 90s. However, not much for following rules, he brought his whole entourage of signature pads to the party despite the invitation saying +1. 

When you’re at a party, there is always that guy or couple who stands out from the rest. Whether good or bad, that’s up for you to decide. But guess which one showed up like that to our party? You guessed right. Sex Kino has absolutely no regard for dress codes and we love that! They enter with raw determination and a bit of flair. This hypnotic robotic acid trance take on Virtues Of Idleness will make you forget everyone else at the party.

Barcelona’s Anbau (Aspecto Humano) debuts on Bordello with a Giro d’Italia themed EP. Dedicated to its heroic riders and specifically the late Marco Pantani. He broke through in 1994, winning one of the hardest Giro climbs with an incredible time record; the Passo del Mortirolo. He eventually became second in the final rankings of this legendary tour of Italy.

King of Kings EP is a reminiscence of a period (1980 - 1991), prior to the economic liberalization of India. A closed economy with nearly 200% tariffs or outright bans on all foreign electronic equipment’s including synthesizers, sequencers, drum machines and computers due to west’s antagonizing behavior towards India for not opening its market for foreign colonial corporate actors.

This did not deter musicians to get their hands on the machines despite all the stumbling blocks placed in front of them. Defiance and persistence gave birth to Indian acid and electro synth pop created under our own terms becoming not only father of the machines once we couldn’t own but with our playful ragas giving birth to genres such as acid house.

India thus opened another node in the global cultural flows of electronic music. Cumulatively, this period contributed to the triumph of import substitution in cultural production. An attitude was born to why import when we can make it on our own. A major shift in a mind colonised and slaved for 400 yrs.

This an honest attempt to show the world, how Indian musicians undeterred by barriers made their own mark with western synthesizers and drum machines while staying true to their ethnic identity. A period of Computer Love.

“King of Kings” which translates literally from Tamil (Rajadhi Raja) is a true endeavor to demonstrate to the world how Indian musicians have overcome racial and political boundaries to achieve their sonic mission of expressing our artistic autonomy filled with purpose, perseverance and avant-garde excitement. A musical piece that aims to represent the idea, “In order to become who you are, you need to first overcome who it is they said you are”. A true King of Kings.

Played out across the world by the likes of DJ Seinfeld, Palms Trax, Hunee and more, these new edits re-imagine what life on an 80's gulf discotheque feels like. Side ‘B’ features a collaboration of two long-standing Dar Disku favourites, Dublin via Saudi Moving Still and Tjade from the Netherlands. Equally responsible for some of the biggest hits across the dance music scene in the last two months (Rush Hour chart topping ‘Koi Jaye and Sidi Mansour) the pair have collaborated to create the italo-esque edit of egyptian pop star Azza Kamal’s ‘Maadna Bkra’. The tape was originally found by Moving Still on a recent visit to his hometown and was later sampled to create the track. Azza’s iconic vocals echo throughout the track with the classic call and response found in the music from his era. Tjade’s signature drums paired with Jamal’s trademark arpeggiator bass create a dancefloor future classic. On a recent visit to the Gulf, Moving Still went on a treasure hunt through the markets of his home town. “ I hadn’t got a chance to listen to all of them but with the COVID-19 lockdow, I began to sift through my finds. The minute I heard Maadna Bukra I texted the label saying “you have no idea what I just found..”. As I got started I already visualised Tjade collaborating on it. Weirdly enough he got in touch and asked if I would be interested in working on an edit together. It’s so lovely to be able to work with someone you admire musically and lockdown shows us that you don’t have to worry about being in the same city. I always believed the two of us would end up working on a song together, and to put it out on a label I believe in and to be able to give back to the community is a wonderful privilege. “

In light of current worldwide events - the importance of togetherness, equality and diversity are more important than ever. Music is one of the tools that enable this and Dar Disku (together in agreement with Moving Still and Tjade) will be donating 50% of profits from the release directly to middle-eastern based charities.
