Dj Set @ La Granja Ibiza - July 22

As I was riding my bike back from a dip in the lake by Sao Lourenço de Barrocal, I received a phone call from the organizer of Barrocal Sound, Duarte Uva, who was in a bit of a panic. The headliner for tonight's festivities, the Boss, Michael Mayer's original flight was cancelled and he wouldn't arrive to the venue until after he was supposed to play. Duarte asked me if I had my USB stick and if I could keep the crowd warm. 

As a child, I always liked my substitute teacher's because I got to take advantage of them. The crowd that night did the same to me. They were viciously misbehaving underneath the lights of the Knights Templar Arena. It was an honor to play before the man who started my favorite record label, Kompakt. A big thank you to all who were dancing under the stars, Michael Mayer for the inspiration, Duarte Uva for the opportunity and the Knights Templar for upholding the principles of order.

Barrocal Sound || May 2022

Phonobar is the room in San Francisco that celebrates vinyl above all else. A beautiful and thoughtfully put together booth, great monitoring, and a classic ARS mixer. I've gotten to know Chuck this year through Mark Slee and Gunita, and it's always been a dream of mine to have the opportunity to play there. This was a Thursday evening in April 2023, and I'm incredibly grateful to the crew that came out to dance and enjoy the experience together. Thanks to Phonobar crew for letting us run late and carry the energy through what ended up being 6 hours of vinyl.

This is a reflection of where I've been digging the past few months, and evolving sound. Also a reflection of lots of practice with vinyl, but not perfect! Listening back to it, I really enjoy the flow - hope you do too! Some new, some old, many dear friends musical efforts represented, and a broad spectrum of emotion.

B L O E M - DO DISCO

I like nature and music and I like deep dives into the depths of my own mind.

It’s becoming more and more obvious that my mind is really busy - way too busy. It is always exposed - constantly receiving and absorbing, processing and changing.

I have therefore become more cautious of what I want to let into consciousness and taking regular breaks from the endless stream of stimuli and simply paying close attention to my mind has helped me pierce through the spellbinding clutter of unstoppable thoughts. To me, what reveals itself on the other side is a profound state of
calm. A calm from which natural curiosity, playfulness and love can spring freely.

Music is a channel where I express this natural playfulness that I believe we all share deep inside. Playing my music on top of the Robot Heart bus at their ten year anniversary was one of those precious moments where I felt you were responding to this - we were playing together.

When you express a similar joy and playfulness to that which I create the music with we set a beautiful feedback loop into motion. Getting eye contact with you and seeing how me and my wobbly harmonica notes crack you up into a big smile affects me and really fires me up. 

Your response inspires me to create more and feel more and
express myself more. 

I would like to send a big fat virtual hug to everyone who rode their bikes deep out into the playa that morning and to Robot Heart for  making me part of the family.

Crussen - Robot Heart 10 Year Anniversary - Burning Man 2017

We're very happy to share with you a snippet of tunes from our 5-hour set on the beach at Maxa Camp!  It was just wonderful to spend the day on our favorite beach playing music to such a fantastic crowd.  We journeyed gradually from old funk, reggae, and Brazilian songs to the deeper dancey vibe you'll hear in this mix.  The day ended dramatically, with a surprise rainstorm, mini party in the DJ booth, and a giant rainbow to top it all off!  Huge thanks to the folks at Maxa for welcoming us <3
