Today we close the year 1991 with all the facets of house music that were represented that year.

First of all, one of my all-time favourites, actually a mix of two house cult songs, namely Jamie Principle's "Your love" and samples from Adeva's "Musical freedom", which then became "You got the love" by The Source feat. Candy Staton
The song was the first song I played at house events for many years because it's so unique.
Here are a few more real hammers from this year, a few "MUST HAVE's" so to speak:
"Unfinished Sympathy". "Always There" with the unmistakable voice of Jocelyn Brown,
"It should've been me" (a Motown classic) revamped by Adeva, "Finally" by the elegant Ce Ce Peniston, Clivilles & Cole "Deeper Love" (best in the 12 minute version!!), - and this one both of them also brilliantly remixed Lisa Lisa's "let the beat hit 'em".

Marky Mark (Ex New Kids On The Block) cleared the Euro charts with "Good Vibration"
(Thanks for the samples from Loleatta Holloway).
La Tour had arguably its only but most notable hit with "People are still having sex" and Moby turned the key song from Twin Peaks into a huge song, GO!
For me this track is one of the best productions ever, I love it !!!!

I turned 49 this month.

It's been a month of reflection. 

I've thought about the things I had.  The things I lost.  The things I loved, the love I lost.  My triumphs,my failures.  My good times, the bad, the indifferent.  

The thing that has always been there for me is music.  Whenever I needed a little support, it was there for me.  Like the perfect partner.

I love house music.  I do prefer the classics.  And I think this mix embodies that love.

Theres some older tracks,some newer tracks, some deep house, some funky house, tech house, soulful house, afro. There are no genres here, they're all blended into one.

It's just like I'd play in 93 in my first residencey at Labrynth.  Everything from Nightcrawlers, to Bedrock, to Leftfield, to Sabres of paradise, to Bernards Amazing Disco Band, to Transformer 2, to Spooky -  There were no boundaries in 93'. You played what was good and what touched you.

If you're my age and you appreciate  classic house - I hope you enjoy it.

Welcome to the House of Miss Chief - bringing you funky disco / jackin house/ house re-edits  and tech house mixes each week.. 



Growing up and going out when hip hop and acid house was taking the world by storm, this is where Miss Chief’s journey in the industry began.
Music was her passion and during the 90s Karen discovered progressive house music. She first learned how to mix on Technics 1210s and her love for discovering new music was always paramount.

Going clubbing was all about being educated in music. Hearing fresh tunes and going over to Eastern Bloc twice a week to get those tracks.

In 2017, Karen checked out a Greg Wilson mix and straight away was blown away by the fresh funky sound and once again she felt that “oh my goodness, what is this track moment?”
She co-ran Downtown Disco events in 2018/2019 inviting incredible artists such as Dr Packer, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Babert, Michael Gray, Ladies on Mars and Fingerman to name just a few for the lineups.

At the end of 2018, Karen went on to co-manage Downtown Disco Agency representing artists such as Michael Gray, Barry & Gibbs, Dave Leatherman, HP Vince, Re-Tide,Babert, Tropical Disco, Da Lukas, Funkatomic, Fingerman, C Da Afro and Ladies on Mars.

In 2020, she joined forces with Lenny Fontana .Karen aka Miss Chief, worked at Karmic Power Records, helping to put together the incredible ‘True House Stories’ shows and began rolling out ’True House Stories Takeover’radio shows worldwide in 2020 to stations worldwide. 

Miss Chief bought her controller in 2017 and now hosts a weekly radio show ‘The House of Miss Chief’ on stations such as FG Chic (France), My House Radio (NYC), People’s City Radio (Scotland) Capital Disko (Italy), NDC (Sheffield), Real House Radio (Manchester) to name just a few.

She set up a brand new DJ Agency - Deck-O-Dance in 2021 with a roster packed with some of the greatest DJs and Producers in the business and she played River Rush in 2022 alongside Lenny Fontana and Alex P and arranged 3 incredible events at ADE in October 22.

2023 welcome to the new chapter - Powered Up Agency. This incredible agency represents some superb talent - Georgie Porgie, Ladies on Mars, Derrick McKenzie, Moplen, Da Lukas, Peter Maude, Becka on vocals and herself, Miss Chief.
