UCHIHA***

The Aurora series is a very special project for me. It is a journey through time, which merges my past and present. The 4 part video series showcases performances in locations that are dear to my heart and that have shaped me as a human being and as an artist. Each location represents a different facet of my life and has heavily inspired my music direction. Today, I present you Origins, the audio recording of the first episode of the series, which was recorded/filmed where I grew up and where my parents still reside to this day. As this is the first edition, it was important for me to pick the location where everything started, where my roots are. Since I feel so grounded and comfortable when I set foot there, I decided to play a set exclusively containing my own productions, which is a first for me, so it’s extremely special to share it with you today.

Oliver Hafenbauer is the booker and resident for esteemed club Robert Johnson in Frankfurt. Aside from that, he’s also busy running the label Die Orakel – putting out names like Upsammy and Roman Flügel. Oliver is a local hero who has been working hard behind the scenes and has played an integral role in shaping the scene in Frankfurt in the past few years. We’ve liked what he does for a while, and since Oli played a store opening for us a while back in the city, we knew we had to get him in for a mix. 

Here he steps up with maybe the most club-orientated mix we’ve had for Ace & Tate so far. Enjoy an hour of clattering electronics, cosmic breakbeat, polyrhythms, and some trance-y and spacey electro cuts. It’s top stuff. You can most definitely dance if you wanna.

Sumak kawsay is a central principle in the world view of the indigenous peoples of the Andes region. It aims at material, social and spiritual satisfaction for all members of the community, but not at the expense of others and or the natural foundations of life, and can be understood as "living together in diversity and harmony with nature". On an individual level, sumak kawsay is understood as a personally "good life". Sumak kawsay has connections to the Western model of sustainable development, but does not know a linear concept of development. For this reason and in its understanding of nature, sumak kawsay also differs fundamentally from socialist or communist ideals. Some indigenous representatives believe that sumak kawsay cannot be implemented by people in modern societies. I do not see it that way, keep trying! I hope these wonderful sounds can support you in your process.

The Doubljuh is DJ and founder of the legendary @deep_storys soundcloud channel. Moreover he manages this channel and their own new Label @deepstorysrecords.
Besides his devoted and lovely story telling for each podcast at Deep Stories, he is a huge Vinyl head and a pretty amazing Vinyl DJ as well.

In 1982, Hiroyuki Kajino started his career as a professional DJ, performing as a resident DJ on Saturdays at Nishiazabu "TOOLS BAR" that became the epicenter of the club boom in Japan then. He produced the club "ANOTHR WORLD”, the first house music club in Japan. In 1988 Hiro played at CHOICE NY with the legendary DJ, Larry Levan. After coming back to Japan, He was invited as the resident DJ at GOLD, the first large-scale club in Japan. Producing the record shop "OM RECORDS” equipped with very high-quality sound system, Hiro carefully selected vinyl as a professional DJ. It was a one-of-a-kind record shop where many prominent DJs came to buy records. 1990 Hiro played as a resident DJ at CAVE Shibuya, a former club of SPACE LAB YELLOW, 1991 Continued to play at SPACE LAB YELLOW as a resident DJ. 1996 Released “KOTE MOUN YO EP” from King Street NY, collaborating with the famous Jazz pianist Masabumi Kikuchi.  The record was remixed by Francois K and Joe Claussell, Supported by famous clubs such as Shelter and Body & soul. 1997 Produced a used record shop REAL MUSIC RECORDS at Shibuya. 2003 Produced a next-generation record shop Stylus at Shibuya. 2007 Started an online record shop OPTIMO, and its design of the website got a Gold award of One Show Interactive e-commerce department. 2019 Released "Playground #1" from All Day I Dream.

On the Northern Hemisphere the 22nd of September marks the day that we always unwillingly realise that summer officially ended. It's the day that we need to welcome the autumn, the season of change. The season where we slowly let go of anything we don't need or want to bring into the winter and into the new year.

Now that our global pandemic pressed pause on our otherwise rushed lives, we welcome the autumn more deeply. It's time to shed some leaves and refresh ourselves for the new year to come.

So let's celebrate this day, let's welcome change and let's do that with the most beautiful set by The Altitude Agency artist ABUNDANCE. This Amsterdam-based multi talent welcomed his new alter ego only recently. And to celebrate this new season in his life we decided together to upload his set of The Monastery 2019.

The Sound of September - ABUNDANCE Monastery 2019

Perhaps part of the name of his project could best describe what sound this young Tunisian producer opted for. We have already repeated, and we will say again, to be different, newer, fresher, more innovative today is far more difficult. This producer refutes these claims because his music is very different and a real refreshment for the deep house scene. Different Ray is making a debut release for RYNTH called “Deep Lake”! The original is enhanced by remixes of great performers such as Part S and Charlie V!

LTR Premiere: Different Ray - Deep Lake (Charlie V Remix)[RYNTH]

Formally, Transparent was about three years in the making, the fruit of periodic dialogue between Ole and Brazillian-American composer Clarice Assad. For the 64-year-old Danish tabla- master, however, this is the album he’s been composing in his mind for a lifetime.
If Ole’s tablas are the heart, providing the rhythmic drive and structure, then the string quartet is the nerve centre of the album. Arranged by Assad and performed by Danish collective Halvcirkel, they serve up compelling narratives of measured yet acrobatic motives. On ‘Between Leaves’, billowing like Egyptian cotton in mountain winds. Or on ‘Sunfoni’, coiling like incense around the dancing tablas.
Lengthy recording sessions, described as days of pure magic by the artist, also featured Danish jazz composer Kenneth Knudsen whose involvement echoes throughout in asymmetric patterns and gentle dissonance, especially on the Morton Feldman-ish ‘Holy Kashi’. Thomas Fonnesbæk also features on double-bass.
The songs are almost rhapsodic. They swell and surge like chimerical story arcs, discontinuously engrossed in opaque strangeness or ablaze with emotion. Themes of home and away persist. Serene auras flare up into thrills of adventure and discovery. Lost worlds painted in impressionist strokes. Ole thinks it’s the best thing he’s ever done. That’s spanning a career of
four decades. Maybe so. There’s definitely something about it.
Some primitive yet transcendent language, sparked up in these dialogues between musicians. The music of a lifetime.

Ole Theill - Transparent (Full Album) - 0193

That morning, the little witch woke up from the pleasant sound of the singing birds in her forest.  With her eyes half-open and still feeling drowsy from a good night’s sleep, her heart suddenly skipped a beat from excitement when she realized the next night there would be a full moon, which meant she’ll participate in the monthly witch coven (which always happens in a different location and in the ever-changing company of two other witches).  
After finishing her morning rituals and her daily inspection round the woods, the girl said goodbye to the forest dwellers, and flew into the unknown.  She knew she would – as always - reach her destination by simply following her inner compass.  To her surprise, she was flying straight to the North … a direction she had followed never before.  After a long flight over the North Sea (which she saw for the very first time), she finally saw land in the distance.  As she came closer, she discerned a spectacular coastline with fjords and rugged mountains.  At one particular moment, her inner compass told her to turn right and fly into a majestic fjord where she flew straight to the top of a steep rock, where she was welcomed by two other women : an old witch from the land of the fjords and a middle aged witch (around 150 years old) who came all the way from the Carpathian Mountains.  The three women looked at a breathtaking sunset from their majestic vantage point high above the fjord.  Soon the night fell and the young witch was spellbound by all the twinkling stars in the sky.  She had never seen such bright stars and they seemed to be unbelievably close.  To her amazement a constellation of eight stars slowly descended towards them and soon the eight stars were right in the middle of the three witches, gently floating at eye level.  The little witch had never before felt so connected with the universe and the stars.  After a while the three witches started to float in the air and gently soared upwards accompanied by the eight stars until they were surrounded by millions of stars.  The young witch felt a strong connection with her two sisters witch and with the eight stars, and she became so energized by all this that she started to glow.  The heat in her heart became so intense that she looked down and to her amazement she saw a little pinkish light jump out of her chest, beating at the pace of her own heart.  Strangely the same thing happened with the two other witches, and their little stars had a blue and yellow glow.  The three newborn stars searched their place and settled down in their new galaxy, twinkling at exactly the same rhythm as the heartbeats of the three witches.
After that, the little witch gradually lost all sense of space and time and when she returned to planet earth in the company of her sisters witch, she was unable to tell whether this experience lasted just minutes or decades or even billions of years.  The women touched down on the same mountain top looking down over the fjord. And the little witch immediately gazed at the sky, just in time to spot a beautiful 11-star constellation (including a pinkish, a yellowish and a blueish star) slowly fading away as the night made place for yet another glorious day …

Opener Filament is a tense techno roller with sheet metal snares and dark industrial drums. It all pairs back for a big melodic break down that will get hands in the air before the drums roll again. Stefan Biniak then remixes with a moody bassline and shimmering chords that are filled with beautiful melancholy. Last of all, Rauschhaus remixes with late-night energy and cosmic chords that take you on a trip through space.
