That first night I walked through the darkened streets of Nairobi, meandering my way through Upper Hill, slightly drunk and following the music. I found myself at the Rain Tree - or some place of a similar name. The music was loud and it smelled of whisky. Many years later, in coastal France, wandered the streets at night seeking the same. The lights were so bright. I had no sense of time. I only had the sounds to guide me.
