To celebrate their first digital compilation, we partnered with Lyon label @HardFist on a 9 hours long virtual journey across 12 countries with the help of 16 other media channels. Free Shelter is a collective and label, hailing from the cold breezes of Helsinki, Finland. Their main goal is to find, play and share obscure music from the deep beyond. Whether it be feel-good disco from the jungles around the world, rolling trancey bass lines or pumping house from the east coast of the US, it doesn’t matter. With several edits and own productions released on their own imprint under their belt, and support from world known DJs, they aren’t slowing down just yet. Their Serenades Podcast features some of their newest findings, with a little bit of everything put into it.

Imagine an inch-high hourglass as thick as a thumb, with a very narrow neck, that “empties” in, say, quarter hour. Now imagine another one as high as yourself, with a much bigger amount of sand running from the uppermost section through a much wider neck into the lower section in, again, quarter hour. Now that you are done imagining these two, try to use this example to visualize the relativity of time, the boundaries of the present, past and future, and maybe only then time will stop being a unit of measurement for you, with all the delicious food, music that gives you the chills and all your unspoken thoughts becoming units that measure your life, units that are always there, by the way, but we choose to not see them a lot of the time. One of our friends, for example, had been waiting for @mira_kater’s set so desperately that their life is forever split between before and after today.
