20+ years of Moontribe has meant many ups and downs, we have seen weddings there, a death, and a couple of memorials for community members who have passed on way before we wanted them too.  This was the most intense of all Moontribes for me as we celebrated the life, and came to grips with the recent death, of our sweet and loveable friend, Nico Rojas.

This 3-hour set was played between 10:20am and 1:20pm on Saturday, October 18, 2013.  Emotions ranged from light - being engaged in a marshmallow fight with friends on the dancefloor, to heavy - open grieving on the dancefloor with the music playing.  The music also reflects this play between light and more somber/thoughtful energies, one of the best I've played and certainly the most emotional.

If you can, please listen to this set in its entirety as I have tried listening to parts and it really doesn't work as well.  Try it on a long drive, cleaning the house, or when working through some issues .  

Finally, send some love to Nico, to his brother Mauricio, and mother, Lisa, and all his family and friends who miss him dearly in this world.  Both the music and the way it is mixed were meant as in memory of his life and in honor of his loving spirit.

We have a very special podcast for you this afternoon, made by one of Amsterdam's most promising young lads. Alexander Valentyn is a DJ/Producer whose name is beginning to resonate through Amsterdam's clubbing scene more and more. After working intensively on his own sound, Valentyn took another road in electronic music. With a more mature style and a personally renewed touch in house music, he has created a deep and nostalgic sound which flows through all his sets. With two new EP's on the way and an enthusiastic feeling about playing parties he's looking forward to show the crowd what he's all about.

His Wereld Vreemd Podcast for Deep House Amsterdam is one and a half hour of sheer house bliss. It's a bit more slow-pitched than we're used to by Alexander, prospecting the deeper side of his beloved genre. This makes the mix perfect for listening at home or at work. But of course a little dance is the best way to enjoy the fine tunes that he has delighted us with. Enjoy!

Check out Alexander's skills live at Wereldvreemd. Wereldvreemd is a collaboration by Jongens v/d Wereld and Klamme Handjes, two Amsterdam organisations that know how to throw a party. Valentyn will be standing next to the likes of Audiojack, Hector Couto Bodhi, Prunk, Elias Mazian and  many more. Hector Couto and Alexander already have a connection, since Ozzi's remix to his track '95' was feautured in Couto's November top 10 for Resident Advisor. On November 29th you can see all of these fine artists together at H7 Warehouse, the perfect spot for a sound like this.

Dave Angel - regarded by many as the Godfather of the UK’s Techno scene - returns to Bedrock with a stunning new single. “Harlequin” displays his supremely groovy and downright funky side, having evolved and matured stylistically over the years, since his early heart-stopping techno outings more than 3 decades ago now. This is Dave Angel’s first outing on Bedrock since 2011, when his remix of Marco Bailey’s “Rubber Band” (BEDMBDIGI01) was hailed as a pure master-class in techno genius.

The son of a jazz musician, Dave Angel’s first musical instrument (appropriately) was a drum at age of eight, so it’s no surprise that he developed an ear for a good groove. Since entering the consciousness of the techno community in 1990, he has pretty much remained there ever since. Although he’s London born and bred, he has been making records like he's from Detroit with a distinctive twist of funk and jazz for years. Dave Angel is one of the scene’s true characters, giving off an aura of positivity like no other, a kind of warmth that you cannot fail to feel through his exceptional, uplifting music.
