If you're into house music, chances are you've come across the name of Telfort before. The Edinburgh-based artist has been releasing some of the underground's finest house cuts since emerging on the scene in 2014. His very first outings, a self-released trilogy of EPs stamped his mark loud and clear - quickly garnering him fans amongst music-lovers and DJs alike.Telfort also runs his own parties in his home town of Edinburgh, hosting the likes of Aziesch, Damiano von Erckert, and Cinthie. We love his work here at BB HQ, he does an excellent job at creating true house music which stands the test of time. Catch us in 15 years time...still listening to his tunes on repeat, feeling increasingly refreshed with each subsequent listen. Needless to say, we are very excited to have him on board our Mixed By series. Here's what he had to say.....

AZLN - Red Line [Superordinate Music]

Max Graef is at the centre of his own little musical world that includes being co-foudner of Money $ex Records and part of the Oye Records and Box Aus Holz crews. It’s a world of loose house grooves, jazzy influences and disco flourishes with lo-fi aesthetics that has spawned two essentials albums—on Tartelet and Nine Tune respectively—as well as countless singles. More recently he has delved into techno, though, proving that he is an inquisitive artist who has plenty of tricks up his sleeve. He is a wizard on a range of outboard gear as well as having some very real playing chops when it comes to keys, guitars and percussion.

As a DJ his organic style always comes through, which means his mix for us is an impromptu thing that calls on lots of different grooves. Sometimes hurried and minimal, at others spacious and deep, it’s a showcases of all the many influences that Graef distills into his own productions and is a nuanced listen that stands up to home listening. Included along the way are a couple of forthcoming solo tunes, as well as one with long time musical sparring partner Glenn Astro, so have fun picking them out.

Darwin's In Session Mix presents all the kaleidoscopic facets of her sets, beginning with multidimensional matrix-like space sounds and slowly moving into her groove of deep UK garage before floating into break beats and infectious dancefloor cuts. 

Water bubble textures and acidic noises make an appearance before she ends with jacking footwork beats, setting you in the middle of the jungle.

Here she showcases an array of sonic explorations, a focus that has made her one of the key guiding forces in the underground scene today.

In Session: Darwin

Back in August we hosted a Lab NYC session with Martyn and DJ Voices. In their first ever b2b set, they showcased a dazzling array of sounds and styles in one of our favourite Labs of the year.

Before the Lab took place however, the two played a warm-up set that was just too good not to share. Focusing on deeper, darker and more bass-heavy frequencies, you'd be forgiven for thinking that the pair had been playing together for years.

All this self-isolating has got us built up with bags of energy, step up Scott Fraser of Body Hammer and Quinn Whalley of Paranoid London to service this.

Ravers, party makers and creation of flavours - both Scott and Quinn are no strangers to dance music and the club scene. Born and raised in Glasgow, now based in London, Scott Fraser has been part of the electronic music and club community as a dancer, music fan, club promoter, DJ and recording artist for over 30 years. The rather elusive Quinn Whalley of Paranoid London would be foolish to be ignored... this is the real deal: dirty, repetitive music for DJ's & dancers. ha-how-ha-how-ha-how-ha-howse nae shon!

Scott and Quinn lift us from under our feet over this soundtrack for the night time as we manoeuvre through this 1-hour and 40-minutes of hypnotic House rhythms galvanized in Acid, who said staying in couldn't get rowdy?
