Debuting on Sydney based label Gallery Records in 2020 - inspired by the lack of female faces in a male-dominated scene - AK Sports has been setting the standard for her style of high energy, new-age rave spanning breaks, electro, grime, jungle, techno as she finds her footing in the contemporary electronic circuit between London and LA.

Releases and remixes have followed on Dansu Discs, Mad Decent and CLUB GLOW (where she produced a collaborative EP with rising artist Kessler), and now the Aussie producer readies her Lobster Theremin debut; six varied and stylistic cuts of techno, electro and distinct Sports-rave.

‘Dial Up’ is a pirate radio inspired, scattered break warper that captures an underground, empty warehouse energy. Flashes of bright, coloured lasers enter the fray on ‘You Want Some’ - an uplifting, happy-hardcore influenced cut of breakbeat-techno - before the progressive, bubbling patterns of ‘Listen Now’ deepen the undercurrents.

The B-side opens with ‘Odorimashou!’ - a lo-fi industrial experiment laced with trance and jack-hammer melodies - while ‘Flame On’ switches the vibe again with it’s high-speed, malfunctioning electro aesthetic. 

Bringing Displaced to an end is ‘The Humans Are Dead’ - a dystopian trip through a Fallout-like apocalypse soundtracked by 80s horror styled melodies and futuristic laser blasts.

In moktar's words: "Immigrant is about people leaving their countries in search of a better or different life, highlighting the struggle so many go through to be accepted and how hard people must have to work towards building what they have today. I’ve seen how much my family have been able to build in Australia in the time that they’ve been there, and that’s really inspiring so I wanted to touch on that too. There are also key words in the track that I’ve sampled and weaved in to highlight my own personal experiences."

‘West Coast’ tears itself into two forms - one a heavyweight 4x4 power mix, the other a ravey cut of breakbeat hardcore that melts across a scattered rhythm. ‘Une Amie’ floats like a killer-bee amongst swirls of synthy colours and patterns on a deep, driving and frenzied techno flow. 

‘Eurostar’ is the soundtrack to what would happen if the high-speed, multi-national rail service was somewhere transported the a Mario Kart multiverse – a cut of trance-fused Euro-techno – before ‘Lockdown in the Big Smoke’ takes us on a melancholic trip into the dead of night on a killer techno-spooker.

Raised down under and now based between London and LA, AK Sports’ productions, DJ sets and Balamii shows are a melting pot of rave flavours, equally inspired by the old school as the new.

This makes for a truly unique, easily identifiable sound that combines computer-love, retro acid synths (‘Robots Are Forever’) and anthemic piano stabs (‘Sayulita’) with futuristic, cosmic soundscapes; and industrial techno, with MPC claps and reverberating breaks (‘Kurrupt’, ‘Xoxo’). On Lost In The Sauce EP, unorthodoxy and irreverence are at the core with AK Sports refusing to follow the rules laid out by genre.

Glasgow's Fear-E has established himself as a serious talent in recent years, with releases on DABJ, Super Rhythm Trax, Dark Entries, Don't Be Afraid, Street Tracks, Hilltown Disco, Takeout and Avoidant. He launched his own label, Posh End Music, earlier this year and dropped his first full album in May, with another coming soon. 
 
For his Das Booty release he channels his teenage self, who used to regularly attend the big raves in the 90s, with 4 old school-influenced bangers, in his own signature style.
