The SlothBoogie crew are back with the third instalment of their SBEDITZ label, offering another delicious collection of juicy house and disco cuts. The London collective are a purveyor of good times, acclaimed for both their commitment to an infectious dance-floor vibe and the discovery of new talent. Naturally, SBEDITZ003 lends strong weight to this reputation. The 12” features four crispy reworks by Jad & The, Tender Games, Swales and SlothBoogie themselves, unified by a summer disco flair and a solid mid-tempo groove.The track we have the pleasure of premiering today takes the A2: Tender Games’ (soundcloud) synthy funk machine ‘So Hot’. The brainchild of Berlin based producers Ulrich Harrison (HRRSN), and Marlon Hoffstadt, Tender Games have been traversing a promising trajectory carved out by their impressive discography on Berlin imprint Suol. Their diverse sound is full of charm and dancefloor dexterity, drawing inspirations from a mixed bag of Jazz, African Funk, House, Reggae and new Rap. With such an approach to the craft, it doesn’t surprise us that SlothBoogie handed them the razor to provide the stylish rework that is ‘So Hot’.

Layering the synth lines with some rousing guitar licks and a smattering of bongos, the final product is a glorious piece of paradisiac music perfect for lounging, grooving, and everything in between. There’s a playful lightness to this track, and the mingling of styles and sounds pays off in spades. Already lending their DJ support are Dimitri from Paris, The Revenge and Black Loops, among a host of others.

If the sellout success of SBEDITZ002 is anything to go by (we think it is), the 300 copies of this vinyl only release will be snatched up fast. Head to Juno or your distributor of choice to get your hands on the wax from 27th of April.

Spanish DJ and producer Hurlee continues to build his strong catalogue of soulful releasse with his new three-track 'Beating For You' EP landing on Apparel Music. 

The title track is particularly noteworthy as Hurlee delivers sensual vocals and a fluttering melody layered over a bumping bass line. As the label describes: "The whole work sounds like a message of love he wants to send out to someone, or maybe to all of us, who knows? Let's just make the music talk!"

A legendary house record finds a new shine on its 20th birthday thanks to a spin from Dimitri from Paris. David Morales' original of 'Needin' U' was released in 1998 and retains its status as a seminal track in house music history. Then came The Face vs. Mark Brown's version, which was released first in 2009 also on Cr2 Records. Finally with the Parisian producer's remixing touch, 'Needin' U' is ready for 2018. It's out on Cr2 on May 25th.

Lumberjacks in Hell is a records label run by Marcel Vogel, which like the label boss, has a sound that incorporates everything from rare groove and disco to Chicago house.
With recent releases that have featured music from the likes of Karizma, Soulphiction, Rahaan, Dan Shake and of course Marcel Vogel himself, this new release is from Andy Compton & Shamrock.
Andy Compton is an artist who based in the English city of Bristol, has an eclectic sound that varies between soulful house and jazzy R&B. Often working with live instrumentation either sampled or recorded, he is a talented musician who also releases under the alias of The Rurals.
With over 30 albums and 120 EP’s under his belt Andy Compton also heads up the Peng label, which has signed music from scene leading icons such as Louie Vega, Larry Heard, Mark Farina and Osunlade.
A veteran DJ and producer with decades of experience, Andy Compton's music can be found on other imprints such as GOGO Music, Seasons Recordings, Naked Music and the Chicago based Large.
For this downtempo release Andy has joined forces with African artist Shamrock who is a multi-talented musician with a love of guitars and house music, and has built a reputation for playing DJ sets that incorporate him mixing and playing guitar at the same time.
Shamrock is responsible for much of the musicianship on this release and combined with Andy Compton’s production skills the output is soulful house with African flair and Latin influenced rhythms.
The EP opens with the samba percussion and chimes of “Bunny Chow” but it’s the expertly played bass guitar that provides the groove, and plays a game of call and response with the layers of both male and female vocal chants. Finished with some trumpet flutters, this laid back jazz track is a hustling bustling musical conversation, that everyone who listens what’s to get involved with.
