TECHNO TRACKS 3.0

The three tracks for this EP are lovingly crafted using his collection of vintage drum machines, samplers and expansive modular setup, and are presented in both stereo and Dolby Atmos. Opener 'havin it' is quick-stepping, low slung house cut lit up with glistening chords and gorgeous soul samples that shine through next to low-key but euphoric 90s trance progressions. It makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside while remaining locked to the groove. 'lush' is just that, with summery harp strums shimmering across dusty and speedy deep house drums that sweep you up and fill your heart with hope and joy. It's a richly layered sound with a curiousness that truly enchants. Lastly, 'WNE' straightens your back with upright and snappy drums, woody percussion and frayed edged chords that have a cosy nostalgic glow. Coated in a lo-fi haze, plunging bass and aching vocal fragments pull you in different directions as you hurry to keep up with the frisky groove.

This track is from the forthcoming 'latent bangers vol. 1' EP. It takes inspiration from club music, albeit from a much more introspective view. Essentially they are anthems for anyone who has ever felt alone in the club.

openmode is the sonic musings of Anthony and Mark who both met, and still exist to some degree, within the gravitational field of London. They were introduced through a mutual friend and bonded over their appreciation of Burial, Talk Talk and finely patterned textiles. They spent years sending albums to one another, as well as pursuing solo attempts at music making, before realising there may be some merit in attempting to make music together.

Much of their sound is borne from navigating the creative process remotely, owing to their debut jam occurring on the eve of the first lockdown (and plagued with firmware based issues). Rightly or wrongly, they persevered in their attempts to create music, but from a far. Through a plethora of voice notes and massively exploiting the free usage policy of wetransfer, they began to develop their sound.

Their sound is heavily based on Mark’s vocal musings and motifs. These are then sliced, diced and (for the most part) lovingly reconstructed by Anthony, into something that may cause people to want to slightly move their body to it. This process has resulted in a montage of musical memories for the duo, spanning longer than either can fully remember.

With a finely tuned ear for rave-ready energy and soul-soothing melodies, Manchester duo Cortese continue a run of fine form. Following standout releases on LNOE and Hotflush, they make their long-awaited debut on Constant Circles with the Parallels EP - an essential slice of forward thinking UKG.

Two original cuts lead the way, showcasing Cortese’s signature blend of nostalgic garage vibes and cutting-edge production. These are closely followed by two standout remixes: label boss Just Her delivers a deep and driving rework, while Jozef K, known for his immersive sonic textures, delivers a haunting atmospheric twist, each bringing a new flavour to appease any dance floor.

Completing the package is original street art from Brighton’s legendary graffiti artist Unknown, raw and unfiltered, drawing on the parallel between art and music. Unceasing. Limitless. A constant circle.

UFC /Un Futuro Creíble/ presents its ninth release, Anti-Gravity. A small tribute to WipEout's first games released on the original PlayStation and other platforms. WipEout wasn't just about thrilling anti-gravity racing games, it was also about electronic music (ColdStorage, Orbital, The Future Sound of London, etc.) and aesthetics (The Designers Republic). All together, they formed a unique product that brought the future, raves, and club music to many homes in the 90s and left a lasting impression on many like us. AT2052 and AT2097 are two tracks inspired by all of this, which they hope could have been part of the soundtrack of one of the games.

Storm has always been one of the most influential DJs within Drum & Bass, known for tight mixing skills and an exclusive selection. Affectionately dubbed the ‘First Lady of Drum & Bass,’ she represents Metalheadz at their residencies, label nights and tours as well as countless solo gigs. Having been involved from the very start of the label alongside her great friend and DJ partner Kemistry, Storm’s contribution has been critical in helping build the reputation Metalheadz has today. She has toured the world over and continues to enthral crowds with her powerful and professional style, and is also revered and embraced outside of the D&B community, performing at such events as Houghton Festival, Dekmantel, and Ben UFO’s XOYO residency.

Monnom Black will mark its 17th release with its first various artist compilation presented on triple vinyl. Keeping with the label’s modus operandi, the compilation is packed with iconic, raw and uncompromising techno, featuring 13 artists new and old to the imprint, including a re-release of a classic Drax aka Thomas P. Heckmann track from 1993. 

To coincide with the launch of the compilation, Monnom Black will hold its first highly-anticipated label party. Locking arms with the notorious underground Dutch promoters Reaktor, known for their challenging events and pushing the boundaries of what techno has to offer. Together they will celebrate with an electronic onslaught on New Year’s Eve in Amsterdam’s Elementstraat Warehouse. A location cut to the bone that perfectly encapsulates the label and promoters combined vision and ethos.

Dax J curates the night fusing the label together for a special moment in time, with the titan warehouse opening up two of its rooms hosting a monster line up with the likes of CJ Bolland, Regis as CUB, Thomas P. Heckmann, I Hate Models, UVB, Stranger, Zanias, Cressida, Inhalt Der Nacht, Raffaele Attanasio, Tommy Holohan and Remco Beekwilder.
