A new face at the Octopus table,Cold Burn has been lurking in the shadows of the techno scene for a while now,waiting for the right moment to unleash his highly polished steel productions.We felt Eduardo De La Calle could do a nice job of interpreting the lead track,and his clean,industrial,powerful and subby version adds a whole new dimension this radical new release.

After having a fantastic 2014, ANNA is back for her first single release on Tronic of 2015. 'Abre Los Ojos' is a jacking housy techno track that includes a juicy analog melody/bassline with plenty of lfo and filter action. As usual for her tracks, crowd reactions are guaranteed! Furthermore, Tronics head honcho Christian Smith delivers a strong remix focusing on the groove and an anthemic break that is reminiscent of Kevin Saundersons earlier E-Damcer releases. We hope you like both versions and play them out loud!

ANNA - Abre Los Ojos (Christian Smith Remix)[Tronic]

Here at Data Transmission we've always been a little hesitant when it comes to mash-ups; too many rappers dropped over classic rock or synth pop has left us mentally scarred. Step forward Chester's King Unique, with a bootleg remix combining three top dogs of contemporary dance; we think we've just been converted!

Combining Napoleon's 'Heart Of Night', Dave Seaman's 'Justified Replacement Of Lulu (Joeski Remix)' and 'Kiss Me Again' by Bakradze, Unique weaves a tech house groover with a tropical twist.

The tracks are taken from Unique's new 25-track Beyond Borders: London compilation for Armada, which includes a full 77-minute mix. Said to blend "old school drum ‘n’ bass and speed garage soundsets with the bump and groove of melodic house" the album is the first in a new mix series; Unique explains the concept via press release: "There’s no preconception; there are no expectations placed on the artist stylistically, the mix is literally 'without borders'. The only anchor is that it be tied to a place, and even how literally that is taken is up for grabs."

Kicking things off Unique wanted to explore the"musical mutation and graffiti scrawled grooves" of London. “I’m now mining the weirder techy end of the underground, in a scene where the ‘90s heritage is as relevant as when I started. I’m a ‘90s house coelacanth, an actual ‘90s producer that the kids can gawp at and prod with sticks,” he jests. "There are some bits of music on here that I adore more than my children.”

Victor Calderone has stepped up for his first solo release on Drumcode with his two track single, ‘Burden’. Featuring two energetic tracks, ‘Skin’ and ‘Burden’, Victor has used effected vocals to create funky rhythms over the top of some steaming kick drums. The synth stabs lend themselves well across this EP particularly in ‘Burden’ where they really augment the flow of the track. The use of percussion phrases throughout both tracks on the single also reinforces the grooves and adds character to create a distinctive sound that keeps the single fresh and exciting.

For Remain Ltd 72, Axel Karakasis unfolds once more his funkiness to bring you Strange Ways. In a series of utter groovy releases, Axel Karakasis seems unstoppable and is pushing his productions to the absolute limits!

Gripped is a playful composition that reflects the most colourful mood of the Greek producer. Slamming beats aptly combined with a hauntingly cute sample and thunderous hats set the tone for some serious partying.

The title track is dark and fierce and is an explosion of senses throughout. Sensual rhythm and neat samples complete the bigger picture of track, which is based upon well-balanced synths and repetitive keys. The build-up is immaculate and the party goes on…!

An observation is either an activity of a living being, consisting of receiving knowledge of the outside world through the senses, or the recording of data using scientific instruments.

What kind of tools are we using when we observe, and how are we using them? Some tools let us observe at a greater distance, others are specialized at closer observations. Are the instruments infallible in the way they portay the object we are investigating, and how are we interacting with the data made avaliable by the observations we make?

”Through The Looking Glass” examines the relationship between the observer and the tools used for the observation.
