This week on the Cadenza Source to Cycle podcast, we welcome Oxia, AKA Olivier Raymond.  

The French-born producer, DJ and live performer has had an illustrious career since the mid 1990s, recording for a variety of labels under the Oxia name, including the labels he co-founded, Ozone Records and GoodLife, as well as for international imprints such as Kompakt Extra (the classic ‘Domino’ track from 2006), Tsuba, Infine, 8Bit and Saved.  He has also collaborated with many other artists over the year, including work with Agoria for Visionquest, and Nicolas Masseyeff for Noir Music.

A Dub Techno Journey is a compilation that traverses Dantes circles of Hell, transforming them into hypnotic and profound soundscapes. Each track represents a canto from Dantes Inferno, interpreted by producers from different parts of the world, united by a shared sensitivity for dub techno vibrations. The idea was conceived by Francesco Tamburrano, who envisioned a musical journey blending literature and sonic exploration, and took shape through the collaboration with the label Superordinate, always attentive to visionary projects with an international scope. The result is a dark and immersive path, where enveloping basslines and deep echoes guide the listener on a sonic pilgrimage through Dantes Inferno.

Danish duo Anek team up with GruuvElement's to make their New Violence debut with the groove laden Up & Down EP. Featuring two original cuts showcasing their rolling tech signature sound this is the second time this collaboration has borne musical fruit having previously landed on Roush. Opening the EP is Up & Down, built on an elastic bass line and sprinkled with tantalising tribal elements and hypnotic FX this is perfect peak time stuff. Next up is Are You Ready a heavy groover peppered with nagging percussive rhythms and mysterious sounds and vocal FX, a lovely little heater.

@locodiceofc has joined forces with Detroit techno luminary Eddie Fowlkes (@detroitwax) on new EP ‘D-Town Playaz’, out 7th August on Dice’s fledgling @encouleur imprint.

“In my early days I was a huge Eddie Fowlkes fan and I played his Detroit Wax releases a lot,” Loco Dice recalls. “When I finally met him in Detroit years later it was clear that there was a bond between us which lead us to making this EP together.”
