I first played 'Swagadocious' at Desert Hearts Festival a few years back. Everyone kept asking me to release it, but it was just an idea I was playing with in my live sets. When the pandemic hit I decided I should probably try and finish it and put it out, so it has been a long time in the making to say the least. 'This My Chance' was written in the middle of the pandemic as well, it was just my reflection on the isolation and separation everyone was feeling at the time. It is definitely the most melodic track I have ever released and I am super excited to be putting it on Desert Hearts. Hope y'all enjoy! - @SHADED

@KevinKnapp and @MikeyLion join forces for the “I Am Not EP”. The two-tracker is packed with feel good house influences and chunky grooves. These tracks are destined to create some phenomenal “go wild” moments on dance floors across the globe. "The only way I can describe what feels like an instant connection with Mikey and all that he's built is music and ethos. Something has resonated with me in each piece of music he's released, and I feel like our mutual trajectories have been ascending since the moment we met 2018. I approached him about doing a collaborative EP upon my return to the USA because I felt like his musical approach and imperative to love through music to dance floors squared seamlessly with where my head has been in my approach to music over the last several years. I like to say "sometimes things just work" and this is undoubtedly one of those instances. "I can't think of a better way to celebrate DIRTYBIRD's 10 year anniversary than by releasing 14 great tracks that I fully support. There’s no fluff in here. Everyone from our amazing talent pool has delivered their A game material. And l have also added a few great new names to the family. 

It’s hard to believe that this little project started in my bedroom in the Lower Haight, San Francisco 10 years ago. I can distinctly remember hand stamping vinyl promos at home with my friend Fernando and trying to figure out the best way to mail them to Europe. I remember the very first guy to ever call me back about our music was Edgar Dirksen in Frankfurt, Germany, who was working at a now defunct distributor called Neuton. This was the only place that would agree to sell our records back in 2005 and I still thank him for taking the chance on us. 

There have been many many people involved since the beginning. Special thanks to all who have helped me run the shop at different times such as my wife Aundy, Mike Bosley, Christian Martin, Adam Carter, Sharen Norden, Bryan James, Luke Williams, Jonathan McDonald, Alastair Duncan and Stacey Gamble. Of course I couldn’t have done it without my good friend and the amazing music producer, Justin Martin, who helped shape our sound and also really define what it means to be part of DIRTYBIRD. 

A lot has happened in the music industry over the last 10 years but I like to think we have stayed consistent and managed to enjoy the ride. The players may change but the theme stays the same; keep it fun and funky. So please enjoy this very special compilation of our music and here’s to another 10 years of DIRTYBIRD!

Everywhere I played it, people asked what it was… Recently, after having posted a clip of it online, an old friend by the name of @eric-prydz aka Cirez D asked me what it was and if he could have it. He was so into the track that he asked to do his own high-octane edit of it, and I was thrilled with the result. We toyed with the idea of keeping it as a top-secret weapon for personal use, but decided to share it with the world instead. Premiere: Lubelski 'I Want Acid'

What's Up Desert Hearts Family,

Lubelski is back with his sophomore release on the label and we couldn't be happier. Straight up, @Lubelski is our boy!. His level of production is rising so fast right now it's insane. When we were putting this EP together, he kept sending over more and more tracks, each one better than the last. We ended up signing four original tracks from him to complete his I Want Acid EP.

The title track is a sinister, psychedelic tech house monster chanting the words “I Want Acid” — making it a no brainer for late night dance floors. The 2nd track on the EP, Just Can't Stop, is an awesome collaboration with Dirtybird artist and Downtown LA homie, Wyatt Marshall. It's powerful and has one of the sickest synth leads we’ve heard on the label so far.

Lubelski follows up with ‘The Counting Game’, a trippy, vocal forward track that counts the 4 beats in a bar to the groove of a razor-edged, slammin' bassline, all before disorienting the rhythm with blasé chord stabs. Finally, Lubelski rounds out the EP with the housiest track on the release titled, ‘Don't Play Around With My Love’, featuring an acid-tinged arpeggiator and a bending synth chord thats as much a modern banger as it is a nostalgic mindfuck into the 80s and 90s.

All in all, Lubelski’s I Want Acid EP is just the way we like it; bouncy and psychedelic.

We’re absolutely frothing at the seams for our next release from our good mate, Cut Snake.

Cut Snake has been making some super smooth deep cuts as of late. This EP continues down that path, focusing on groove driven and percussive tracks, with a light slap of tasteful melodic elements. 

Cut Snake’s Switch Up EP includes ‘Eating Soup Underwater’,  ‘Vibrations for The Mind’, and ‘Switch Up.’

We’ll be raving poolside to this one for a while.
