UK based producer Hugo Massien has been slowly but surely making a name for himself over the past few years with "Metamorphosis" marks Hugo’s debut LP on the E-Beamz Record label.

We premiere fittingly titled 'Outer Space Jam'; an outer orbit breasky stomper, driven by a heavily oscillating lead bass line, with brief interludes of soaring padwork. One to bookmark for those future forthcoming peak-time moments. The EP as a whole is one to behold, sporting a real range of textures and flavours - providing a real journey through Hugo's sonic palette.

South Asian/UK artist Michael Diamond is releasing his most complete work to date: Third Culture on Vasuki Sound. He deals with the complexities and insecurities of being a 'third culture kid'. Third Culture refers to someone who is born into a different culture than those of their parents. He channels this fractured sense of identity into a record that spans jazz, 2-step, UK techno, ambient and story-telling electronica.

Fresh from being listed as one of Gilles Peterson’s ‘Future Bubblers’ under Brownswood Recordings and Worldwide FM, Michael Diamond prepares the release of his debut LP ‘Third Culture’ - an album backed by Youth Music & Arts Council England exploring the concept of cultural identity. By virtue of his residency at Oxford's longest-running night 'Simple', supporting the likes of  Ben UFO, Batu, Shanti Celeste and Ross From Friends (etc.), the album exhibits a clear UK techno influence whilst at the same time possessing Michael's trademark jazz flavour. The result is a record that coalesces the best of the jazz and electronic worlds into one seamless composition spanning ethereal jazz-breaks, introspective 2-step, sax-driven power ambient and world-building, story-telling electronica. 


Working alongside Butterz Sound’s Elijah (who has been mentoring Michael), the 23-year-old has also teamed-up with BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year semi-finalist, musical director of Oxford University Jazz Orchestra and long-standing collaborator Alex Wilson who co-wrote and played saxophone on the intro and outro of the record. Being the product of two rigorous years worth of work, the album reveals the mind of a musician with impeccable attention to detail and conflicting internal thoughts.

Third Culture arrives as the inaugural release on Michael’s Vasuki Sound label; an imprint run by a close circle of friends (all talented young creatives in their respective fields) and with an ethos of nurturing genuine undiscovered talent for years to come. Releases will be infrequent and thoughtfully curated; music with a strong focus on melody, harmony and cerebral production, built for both the dancefloor and the comfort of your own home.

Here's a new one from me. I've been asked about this one loads recently and it's actually a remix rather than an original production. I was asked by Nervous Records to pick a track from their back catalogue to remix, for their 25 year anniversary celebrations. Initially it was a daunting task considering how many iconic tracks they've released over the years. After a few days digging, I remembered this ambient interlude mix that Francois K did of Kim English back in '97, and I always loved the chords that come in towards the end. It's the first time I have done a remix of a remix, hope you enjoy!

The club was loud, the dancefloor packed but the people were extravagant. They deserved little of the splendour and the glamour which surrounded them for they quite simply had no chill. Weaving their way between fellow dancers and speaker stacks they looked as if they did not belong - the night was young yet they seemed exhausted and burst. However, outside on the street there was a local crew fighting for a place within the spot. They argued with security and hustled for the respect they deserved. They were the chilled, the real dancers and the ones destined for the floor. 

Elliot Adamson is a name beginning to appear with consistent regularity - many have preached his praises. He is set to release a collection of tracks on Man Power's Me Me Me imprint.

Fresh from her 'Raw Silk Uncut Wood' LP for Latency, Laurel Halo switches focus directly to the dance floor on this new collaborative EP with Livity Sound regular Hodge. The culmination of a series of recording sessions in Berlin, the pair have produced a record that burns with the energy and dynamics their respective DJ sets are known for, rounding out the year for the label in style.
