I believe in God without following any specific religion, but like Christians in this age, I will no doubt be vilified for my beliefs, because this is the climate we live in – you're considered to lack any form of intellect if you believe in something greater than yourself – a creator, a "sky fairy" (apologies for the Atheist cliché).

God has quite literally been described as love and light, so is it that mankind denies love in this godless society? Or is it that we are so far detached from the knowledge of love and what it truly means?

Love is indeed endless; it knows no bounds, but we are so restricted by our own conditions and ridiculous expectations that we fall from grace – we know not of the inherent, unconditional love in our hearts.

Society conditions us to believe that catering to superficial needs is proof of concept, but superficiality is merely a concern of the ego, the physical mind. The physical mind is weak and corruptible, but we choose to give it power, and so when our ego feels it is no longer fulfilled, we abandon our relationships, leaving a slew of broken hearts in our wake that then become fearful of love itself. This, however, ironically, doesn't make anyone less determined in their search for love.

Again, is it that we deny love in this godless society? My answer would be no, not entirely. It's my belief that we actually fear realising the full extent of love, because if we were to know it truly, we'd be giving ourselves over selflessly without expectation, denying all that we "think" ourselves to be, and sacrificing our egocentric desires. Essentially, it is fear of the unknown and the possibility of knowing something greater than oneself, of God, who is, in fact, by definition, the love we so desire.

The great escape when pencil, brush or chisel are in hand. Lifetimes of observations in a fleeting moment. Like several songs in this series, this is an older song, written around 2014, that I have lost the ability to edit as the base tracks will no longer upload. I had lost sight of this song (forgotten it) and recently stumbled on the WAV file as I was organizing lists in iTunes.  Listening to it, I felt it worked well with the songs I have been putting out as part of The Sleepwalkers.  I wanted a chance for the song to be heard and so I have posted it.  I hope those of you who listen enjoy it.
