Pedro Pimentel returns to Cryo Chamber with his second album on the label, Self Destruction Themes. This time with help from Amund Ulvestads beautiful cello performances, Simon Heaths textural piano work and Apocryphos atmospheric distortion layers. 

This is a massive album of cold but inviting atmospheres, filtered noise, acoustic layering and sweeping textural layers. The sad theme throughout the album paints images of a world depopulated and of overgrown and dilapidated cityscapes.

Trepaneringsritualen’s long out of print debut release: Deathward, To The Womb finally sees a proper reissue on CD, and limited edition 12″ vinyl.

An invocation not so much of BABALON Herself, but of the tormented elemental of Frater T.O.P.A.N., and his fervent attempts to usher in the Æon of Horus.

In the lyrics – based on the texts of Frater T.O.P.A.N. on the Babalon Working – the perilous flame that is BABLON is called upon to ravage creation. She is asked to scorch the earth clean for the coming cosmic renovation. The Eternal Virgin would spring from Her womb. From Her love, the new divine man would be born. 70 years after the Bablon Working was deemed successfully concluded, its utter failure is painfully apparent.

»All love songs are of me« She says. This is certainly true of the first five songs of Deathward, To The Womb. The final songs, All Hail The Black Flame, seem different altogether. In this guise, BABALON brings not solely love, but cataclysm; a holocaust brought upon the domain of Man. Manifested as the Black Flame, She reaches from a time before time, formless chaos, and rips apart the very fabric of the created worlds. Such is Her nature: two opposing principles; that of the nurturing mother, and that of the callous destroyer.

“She is flame of life, power of darkness – She destroys with a glance – She may take thy soul. She feeds upon the death of men.”

Appended to the six original songs is a specially commissioned 12 minutes and 57 seconds long ritual work entitled “I Remember When I Was God” (included as download for the vinyl edition), and attributed to Teeraal Räum Pheynix. BABALON was summoned at Winter Solstice 2015 under the sign of ᚢ, with assistance from Alone In The Hollow Garden, A.I.L of Arktau Eos, Michael Idehall, KzR of Bölzer, Nÿland ii of Hadewych, and Æther. To destroy and to give life. We declare this ritual concluded and successful.

Die Schamanen werden weit im Norden an der Wurzel der schrecklichen Krankheiten geboren. Dort steht eine Lärche, auf deren Zweige viele Nester in verschiedener Höhe liegen. Die größten Schamanen werden im Wipfel des großen Baumes aufgezogen, die mittleren auf halber Höhe, die kleinen Schamanen auf den unteren Zweigen. 

    Man erzählt, zuerst fliege ein großer Vogel, einem Adler ähnlich, mit eisernen Federn, zu diesem Baum, setze sich auf ihn und lege ein Ei. Dann brüte dieser Vogel das Ei aus. Wenn ein sehr großer Schamane ausschlüpfen soll, brütet er drei Jahre, wenn ein kleiner, ein Jahr. 

    Dieser Vogel heißt "Tiermutter" und zeigt sich im ganzen dreimal. Das erste Mal, wenn sie den Schamanen gebiert, das zweite Mal, wenn sein Werdegang durch die Zerlegung seines Körpers beendet wird, zum dritten Mal, wenn der Schamane im Sterben liegt. 

    Wenn der Schamane (seine Seele) aus dem Ei kriecht, dann übergibt ihn dieser Vogel zur Erziehung einer Geister-Schamanin mit Namen Bürgästej-Udagan, die ein Bein, eine Hand, ein Auge besitzt. Diese Schamanin bettet den Schamanen in eine eiserne Wiege um, schaukelt ihn und zieht ihn auf mit eingedickten Stücken geronnenen Blutes.

    Wenn die Aufzucht in der Wiege beendet ist, wird der künftige Schamane drei schwarzen dürren Geistern übergeben, die sein Fleisch in Stücke hauen. Den Kopf des Schamanen stecken sie fürs erste auf die Spitze einer Stange. Dann streuen sie das zerhauene Fleisch wie ein Opfer nach allen Seiten aus. Drei andere Geister werfen dabei den Kinnbacken des Schamanen als Orakel für die Ursprünge aller Nöte und Krankheiten. Wenn der Orakelknochen in die normale Lage fällt, dann heißt das, von dieser Krankheit kann der Schamane die Menschen erretten. Manchmal soll es vorkommen, daß das Fleisch des Schamanen nicht für alle Leiden und Krankheiten hinreicht. Dann soll ihm zugestanden sein, aus Anlaß derjenigen Krankheiten, die nicht mit Stückchen seines Fleisches bedacht werden konnten, lediglich einmal zu schamanisieren. 

    Wenn bei einem Schamanen bei der Zerlegung seines Körpers ein Mangel unter seinen Knochen zutagetritt, dann müssen je nach der Anzahl der fehlenden Knochen einige seiner Verwandten sterben. Manchmal sterben bis zu neun Menschen. 

    Bei uns lebte ein Mann, Bologur Michail. Auch er wurde von den Geistern für den schamanischen Dienst berufen. Er sagte, bei ihm hätten fünf Knochen gefehlt, weshalb fünf Menschen hätten sterben müssen. Aber er weigerte sich, die Berufung anzunehmen, da er nicht eine solche Zahl Menschen opfern wollte. 

    Er selbst erblindete darauf. Einst, als er schon blind war, fällte er im Walde eine ausgehöhlte Lärche. Und da fiel irgendwoher in den hohlen Baumstumpf ein Schamanenvogel, eine Vogelgestalt aus Eisen, wie sie an dem Schamanengewand befestigt wird, und rief dreimal "Kuckuck". Michail ergriff den Vogel und bog ihm Beine und Flügel mit dem Rücken der Axt um. Dann warf er ihn in den hohlen Baumstumpf. "Deshalb", sagte er, "verstümmelten mir die Geister Arme und Beine."

The last entry in the apocalyptic series, the accumulation of events that has brought the listener to this point, Promethean is the closing chapter of the worlds transformation. 

Promethean picks up years after the event of The Architects destructive era of eradication, as well as the years of darkness and reflection within the Remnants album. The album opens with a transmission from an unnamed wanderer, facing down the sight of an opening maw in the Earth, speaking of his next destination; his search for answers. The album takes him, and the listener, through a new world, a reshaped world, with new eyes to see what remains, what was, what will be. Until he reaches his final destination, his final transformation, the point in time to change his path forever. 

Promethean is a multilayered effort to tell an overarching storyline, through multiple timelines and multiple realities. To allow the listener to dive deep into each tracks meaning in their symbolism, how they tie the album together, as well as the series.

The chant of the ceremony swells beyond walls of wet stone. Your bare feet on red sand peak out of cloudy robes. 
Figures sway among the pillars of the stone circle. Their song spirals up towards the night sky. 

The stars move in pulsating patterns and combine to form the bird of light. It swoops down from it's celestial home to push it's claws into the red soil, it stares into your soul before it put it's head under it's wing and drowns in the sand. A tiny finger cymbal echo between the pillars as the voices die down. The figures are gone, only their empty robes left behind. You stand alone under a night sky drained of stars, pure black. 

Druidic chanting and deep walls of sound lends a cavernous atmosphere to Tomb of Druids.
