Episode 508 brings us an incredible back to back mix from two of my favorite producers, Jem One & SR. Both have done previous mixes for the podcast, but this time we get a special back to back mix combining their powers!

Jem's and SR's mix starts out with filthy rollers, patiently building the momentum throughout! The mix traverses through a grip of forthcoming exclusives and new tunes, the mix flips from filthy and deep rollers to amen business melding the two vibes flawlessly together! Jem & SR really outdid themselves on this one, you can hear the technicality and care they put into to creating a fantastic vibe!

1.Tell us about exciting upcoming releases and gigs you have coming up.

We’ve been working on an album for the past couple of years, so have had our heads down working on that. It’s certainly been a long crazy process but we’ve managed to produce more tracks than we need which are all finished, mixed etc: and we’re just in the process of picking which ones will go on the album. As we’ve got so much music sat there, we’ll be putting a monthly podcast together called “Jem One & SR The Blueprint”. Which we’ll be alternating shows monthly between ourselves and should be looking at starting this either later in the year or early next year featuring dubs and unreleased tracks plus loads more…

2. What are your favorite tracks the two of you have produced together?

Previously I would have said “The Hardcore” or “Trojan” but there are a couple of forthcoming DnB releases we are both really happy with called “Kinsuko” and “Cone Drone” plus for the album, we’ve been working with the amazing vocalist Sofi Mari on something that’s more like a Jazzy, Hip Hop soulful track.

3. Do you think zombies should be slow or fast? Why?

Haha! The obvious answer is slow but it would spice things up a bit and be more interesting if they were fast! I’d be interested to see if they had the ability to produce music! Zombie jungle could be quite dark!!!

Jem One & SR-Everyday Junglist Podcast-Episode 508

Dan Eshleman wears his heart on his musical sleeve.

Often laced with a pinch of melancholy, a sprinkle of nostalgia or a side salad of introspection and always delivered with a crisp, synthwave-like sense of sonic gloss and space… Akuratyde music is a rich weave of feels, emotionally poignant enough to thaw the frostiest of souls.

In the past a great deal of his work has dealt with very personal themes of loss with his music carrying a palpably heavy heart. But on his latest album Head First we hear a somewhat more buoyant sense of energy. The emotion is still so thick your ears can taste it, but there’s a very clear sense of hope and a brightness in the mix that we’ve only ever been teased with in the past.

This is all down to the chapter of his life that’s inspired it… Head First was written between 2021-2022 as Daniel was commandeering one of the most bewildering chapters an adult can go through; parenthood. Written during the sleepless emotional highs and lows of his first year as a father, there’s a special energy and character to the album he’s not displayed in his music before. It’s an energy he’s also translated into this beautiful mix that ranges from deep autonomic to springy sci-fi D&B by way of many of his own productions…

This an old tape I found a few weeks ago, recorded back on the 30th May 1998. This was not really a set, more of a freestyle mix to test out some promo tracks and new releases I'd been sent - sounds like I just received the mother load from Goodlooking including tracks from 360 and Looking Good; plus some Jonny L (XL) and Metalheadz. I added in a few tracks to improve the flow of the set from 94-98 and a couple of unreleased MC Conrad remixes (2012) copied out of a couple of Makoto sets. You can find the Makoto sets in my "LTJ..." playlist or check out Makoto's sound cloud page (Makoto Human Elements 5th Anniversary Mix & Makoto Dec2012 DnB mix). These are unreleased remixes, believe me I tried to find somewhere I could buy them and even contacted Utah Jazz (Money's One Thing) but these remixes were never released... I kept Makoto's mix into and out of Golden Girl as those mixes are perfect and the tracks worked so well with my original set - I didn't use much of the other tracks, just enough to mix in and out. I put this together using Traktor. This set brings back memories of some of the happiest days of my life, i.e. when I got on GL's, Metalheadz, etc. mailing lists - I used to review tracks for some magazines back in the day and had a pirate radio show.

As always, all props to the artists, producers n engineers that made these tracks. I listed the ones I know, if anyone can help ID tracks it will be much appreciated.
