DJ Koze exists both above and beyond club culture as we know it – his albums and remixes flying free from genre and trend – and symbiotically woven into its heart. Yes, he always abstracts and weirds out the principles of house, techno, hip hop, pop, psychedelia, exotica and so forth, but he does that because he understands them. And when it comes to club-demolishing tracks, he understands those principles as well as just about anybody on earth.

Thus he could create an enduring club tune like 2015's “XTC” that is strange, contemplative, even disturbing, bore little relation to anything around at the time, yet still got bodies moving and sweating better than way more obvious techno bangers. And thus the knock knock album, which melts a million genres and none into one another, can comfortably include “Seeing Aliens”.

“Seeing Aliens” unquestionably is a banger, its bass riff snaking around your body like a python, its high-drama strings, pianos and outbursts of noise designed for maximum crowd pressure release. But, again, it sounds like nothing else, and its dynamics and twists unfold over eight and a half minutes in ways that will mess with your head every time no matter how many times you hear it.

The exclusive b-side track, “Nein König Nein” (“No King No”!), meanwhile, is slightly gentler on the face of it: it's less about sonic pressure, more about hip-shaking syncopation. But it too tells strange fairytales in its peculiar and brain-tweaking accumulation of detail, and though you'll hear archetypal sounds from the heart of house and disco in it, every last one of them becomes new and otherworldly.

C minor after having killed us with a great remix recently released, Now offers his 'Sahel', a deadly production consisting of 2 powerful tracks that will make the biggest dancefloors tremble, thanks to the featuring of Cristian Vinci.
'Sahel' is a continuously operating pneumatic hammer with a thrilling groove and very effective and extremely dark bass synths. The suggestive club atmosphere that manages to create leaves room for a crescendo of electronic synths and percussion that explode in the second part of the song, after an exhausting pause.
'Over There' with the featuring of Cristian Vinci, equally releases a great energy, but with more Afro-house influences. The metallic electronic synths are of great impact, together with the evocative percussion that accompany the whole piece in a dangerous crescendo .. raising the empathic level of the track in an excited way. The central break is hypnotic, ill, and very aggressive at its restart. A totally Italian signature bomb package.

After OW001's maiden-voyage into outer space, Outworld now takes us to the underworld courtesy of label head Klangkuenstler's 'Balthazar' EP, which marries raw peaktime-power with claustrophobic-come-ecstatic atmospheres, served over the course of four tracks.
The devil's dancing on the title-track: as serrated off-hits shatter on tough kicks, a wicked saw-riff begins to drill through the drums as if summoned from Hades. In contrast, the bass-driven body and pulsating sinus-tone of 'Zorn Amons' grind like teeth as they build in tension. A moment of illusive release comes with 'Das Schattenreich', on which the reverberating, fast-paced percussion
runs for escape, hunted fiercely by a meaty trance-lead. On 'Jenseits', though, Klangkuenstler pulls us back into purgatory, showcasing a dramatic end to a carefully crafted and devilishly fun EP of rough club bangers.

The Rekids boss linked with Patrick Mason—a young creative at the forefront of Berlin’s art, fashion, dance music and LGBT scene—back in 2018 after they struck up a friendship in Panorama Bar. Now their superb studio work continues to bear fruit inspired by New York’s vogue scene, and these latest two tracks are perfect impactful once more.

The hard-hitting techno opener ‘Talking 2 B Mad’ is built on rock solid drums that never let up. Industrial synth fizzes twisted vocal loops and icy hi hats add detail to the most physical groove, which cannot fail to get you moving. On the flip, ‘Twitch' is just as physical and direct, this time with big synths suspending you in midair as the hammering drums seem to grow in size. It’s frenzied techno that is designed to make you sweat.
