Well, we’re glad his Road to Nowhere has led here. We welcome Yamil back on MoBlack
Records to deliver our 426th imprint, bringing an underrated Rosalinda de la Espada classic
across the turn of millenium, and into the limelight. The Spanish DJ/Producer’s 2021 dance
revival of ‘Hermanito Mio Quirivi’ lets us savor the sound of cumbia, a track that can steep the
soul of Panama in any dancefloor through to its finish.
The rich cultures and traditions that melt in the transcontinental republic’s pot impregnates its
music with depth, and Yamil carefully preserves that. Maneuvering the original’s quintessence
with grace, his rendition is vibrant, vivid and voracious. Percussion seeps deeply and the
hi-hats are warm to the touch, the Afro groove is suave, and the Latin infusions are seductive.
With subtle electronic tweaks that invigorate rapture, Quiribi is lush. But it is Rosalinda de la
Espada’s soulful storytelling at the marrow of both the original and remix that elevates ‘Quiribi’
from the depths of past to the motion of present. The late folk heroine’s timeless vocals, robust
and heartened by history - her story, lands in perfect harmony with Yamil’s midas touch for a
track that makes us just want to dance forever, anywhere, everywhere.

German-based artists Merzzy and Dj Rony deliver ‘Walhala’ a savory mix of sensual percussion, propulsive cadences, and visceral beat patterns that arouse the soul and command the body. A hypnotic groove courses through the track, weaving fiery energy into its rich, undulating rhythms.  Moments, the acclaimed label, presents its nineteenth edition with a two-track release that continues the distinctive artistic vision. Spanning over fifteen minutes, the musical material unites label head and award-winning producer Guy Mantzur with Kamilo Sanclemente, the celebrated DJ and electronic music producer from Cali, Colombia. Their collaboration invites discerning listeners into a refined and immersive auditory journey.

The opening track, Nectar, delivers a brisk and vigorous rhythm anchored by a Giorgio Moroder-inspired bassline. A textured atmosphere unfolds over a classic house chord sequence, gradually expanding into an uplifting and psychedelic arrangement. This progression culminates in a dynamic climax crafted to ignite the dance floor with a surge of energy.

The second track, The Future is in the Past, built on similar aesthetic foundations, introduces a more tempered intensity. Its transcendent tone, reaching a peak in the final third, evokes the feeling of cinematic space exploration. True to its title, the piece merges historical echoes with forward-looking sound design.

This release captures the ethos at the heart of the label: Moments can pass you by if you don't recognize them!

Subandrio makes a welcome return to the label with an astounding trio of treats. 

The Sri Lankan artist has been at the top of his game for over a decade, and shows no signs of slowing down. Beginning his international journey in 2014 with an EP for Lowbit Records, Subandrio's silky style has lit up dancefloors globally. Now signed to a bewildering array of labels including Vapour, Mango Alley and Juicebox Music, Subandrio has gained years of experience, winning accolades along the way with an unrivalled musical diversity as producer, remixer and performer.

Opening with 'Heritage 82', Warm bass tones and driving percussive underbelly instantly hooks in. Muscular rhythms and ear candy sonics keep you firmly on the dance floor as this epic journey reveals its secrets with patience and class. 

Next up, 'Morph into the Sun' continues apace. Driving rhythms, snappy hats and machine funk melodies all combine effortlessly. Pushing forward to the first break, the track swerves into new territory. Dark sweeps and pulsating melodies draw out the tension before the main break prepares us for the drop. Absolutely flawless. 

Finally, Subandrio rounds the EP out with the suitably named 'Karnage'. Stripped back drums make way for the bubbling acid bass and scratchy FX, and percussive intensity. Very much a late night treat that teases the tension, this is the perfect pre-peak bruiser to get the floor ready for an audio onslaught.

In this new chapter of If I Could Stop the Sunset, two distinctive reinterpretations expand the emotional landscape of the original, each illuminating a different facet of twilight’s allure. David Mackay infuses the track with radiant warmth, sculpting shimmering synth lines and soft-lit melodies that echo the final moments of daylight. His rework drifts in the golden haze of sunset, capturing that fragile instant where time seems to slow, inviting a deeper surrender to the fading glow.
Roy Rosenfeld, in contrast, guides the piece into the magnetic pull of nightfall. With his signature blend of atmospheric depth and refined tension, he shapes a soundscape where sleek percussion and expansive harmonics rise like the first stars against a darkening sky. His remix transforms the track into an introspective nocturnal journey, honouring the original’s sense of wonder while revealing its shadowed, more contemplative dimension.
Together, the two remixes trace the delicate arc between day and night: a continuum of warmth, stillness and quiet transcendence expanding the narrative of If I Could Stop the Sunset into a fuller, more immersive cycle of light and darkness.
