XONO Invites - Lonefront

As we approach the 21st edition of my invites series. We travel across the North Atlantic to introduce one live performance artist who has recently catch the attention of many. 

Originally hailing from California, USA. Lonefront is an artist who’s passion for electronic music rose from his earlier years as a guitarist. 

Now residing in Minneapolis, which has earned its own respect in the underground community. With artists such as DVS1 at its centre. 

Lonefront otherwise know has Ross Hutchins. Has been inspiring many with his live performances. With great attention to detail, creating & transitioning between perfectly executed pieces that takes us on the journey we all crave. His latest work was a supported by none other than DVS1. Where he released a live recording from one of Lonefront’s recent jams at DVS1 highly respect future classic warehouse. 

He also featured 1 track on our last VA on platform 22. We are proud to announce his second release with up with us. A split EP with myself which is due to be released soon.  It was only right to have Ross join us on the series. 

Tomorrow night we find out more about Lonefront’s journey so far and why he has been drawn to Techno so much. All wrapped up with a one hour live recording straight from his studio for all our listening pleasure.

Uncertainty, excitement, expectations and hope define pretty well what’s behind the launchment of a space mission. Everything has been calculated,  measured and prepared, but reality is always unpredictable, so results and success are never guaranteed. Experience and intuition may help in order to reach the desired planet’s orbit. Italian artist Alessandro Russo, known as Evod (@evodmusic), has used both to deliver Sonde Spaziali EP, the new release on Exoplanets’ 30D Sub label, a tribute to four different spatial projects that have taken place in the last decades from different parts of the world. 

Techno has been, almost since its inception, an excellent soundtrack for spatial exploration, as experimenting and having no boundaries in creation are key to start the trip. In Sonde Spaziali, Evod, fully aware of techno’s potential, recreates all the complex emotions kept into the challenge  of  reaching  space,  being able to bring us back to Earth to share and spread the discoveries, fully dance floor compatible. Welcome on board.

@comradewinston1984 could not have wished for better soil to grow as a DJ. The scene in his hometown of Nijmegen, located in the eastern part of the Netherlands, has given him ample opportunities to hone his skills. 

Now based in Amsterdam, his sound has caught the ear of many music enthusiasts, dancers and promotors. Fast mixing techniques and a taste for old school records from the 90’s with real groove and funk have achieved mayhem on many dance floors and have given him a strong reputation within the techno community. These abilities at the decks have earned him a position as a steady player at the infamous @reaktorevents parties as well as a residency at Operator Radio. 

His own imprint Comradery is in the making – a promise to dust off classic grooves and bring back the sound of a forgotten era. With no signs of slowing down, Comrade is ready to bring the past into the future.

Hailing from Vilnius, Lithuania, Arnas’ passage into underground music was built upon his formative time spent on London’s dancefloors where he now resides. Drawing inspiration from a childhood background in jazz, his work navigates a mixture of personal influences with clean, low-end grooves, off-beat rhythms, moody and mental melodies and layered hi-hats to craft effective dancefloor experiences: directed by ethereal atmospheres and driving rhythms. Arnas’ sound is most inspired by the marathon sets from masters of the craft such as DVS1, Takaaki Itoh and Peter Van Hoesen, as well as the new breed of fast and groovy techno that has been making waves in the scene recently.

As a teenager, he discovered electronic music through underground parties, nurturing a passion for techno that has only grown over the years. Inspired by the dirty rawness of old school techno and the hypnotic vibes of more contemporary tracks, Nicolas Vogler decided to pursue his newfound passion by DJing at small events in his hometown.

Today, he is a producer, gaining renown through his own personal label NCLS as well as through recent releases on groove-focused techno labels such as Syxt Berlin, Drawner records and the Spanish label Hemisferio. Played by techno DJs worldwide, Nicolas’ tracks can be found in mixes by notable artists such as Setaoc Mass, Arkan, Insolate, Temudo, and many others.

Our third instalment comes from the Knotweed and Decision Making Theory head honcho Philippe Petit. Straight from the Snowy Mountains of Charmonix in the Alps, Philippe has hand picked some his favourite and nostalgic records for this vinyl only mix. He had a lot of fun recording this mix bringing back many memories of being in the club...Corsica Studios, Tresor and Berghain to name a few!
