@sub-basics's EP Cause & Effect will be Bait's first ever vinyl release. He's a key UK figure in the deep dubstep scene who has had big support for his tunes on the likes of Lion Charge, Foundation Audio and Juan Forte from Ben U.F.O. and Kia. First up he links with Toura for the liquid rhythms of 'Cause' while 'Effect' gets more prickly with a ticking lead synth and deep underwater dub vibes. 'Call' brings some deft melody and more trance-inducing grooves while closer 'Response' is a nice and punchy dub techno cut with ice-cold hi-hats.

Conceived as a cohesive auditory journey, it weaves driving, hypnotic groove with subtle, unpredictable turns, creating a captivating and subtly disorienting atmosphere. Premiered here, the title track is where the thesis crystallises into a mesmeric, floor-focused reality. A lean, insistent house pulse provides the skeletal drive, but the soul of the piece lies in its lush, psychedelic detail. Above the minimal groove, arpeggiated synth layers emerge not as rigid sequences, but as something fluid and alive – a cascade of liquid electricity that pools, spirals, and gently dissolves the edges of the rhythm. This is the sound of a focused mind in a state of elegant distortion, crafting a trippy, ever-shifting topography within the four-four framework. It’s functional gear for the nightclub's heartbeat, polished until it becomes a portal.
