SOL741 is a DJ, computational artist and sound designer residing in South London. Drawing inspiration from emotionally frenetic worlds of sound, her practice manifests as a cross-breed between ambient, deconstruction, and experimental music that focuses on creating atmospheres of inner turbulence. Her work also takes influence from artists such as 703-863-4357, Klein, Infinate body and Loveliescrushing. She has previously performed at experimental club nights such as Syphen, CEHENNEM, Hypoxia and Ursonate, and is currently working on new music and is continuing to return from her performance hiatus in the early months of 2025.

For this mix, SOL741 created a soundscape harnessing chaos and turmoil, cascading layers of textural and melancholic ambient, drone, noise and deconstruction. This set was performed live at TRAUMA UNIT: DOUBLE HELIX.

Moonchant is a deep, hypnotic slice of tribal jungle—an ancestral pulse echoing through the midnight canopy. Driven by rare jungle breaks and layered African percussion (djembe, ngoma, bata), it weaves female chants into a powerful, ritualistic groove. The track blends raw 1993 jungle energy with sacred ceremonial vibes: sub-bass quakes, ghost snares, dub echo swirls, and shimmering bird calls. No synths, just rhythm and spirit.

This is not jungle.
This is Bungalist — the next mutation.

Born when jungle skanked too hard and transcended its earthly form, this tune drips with sweat from the fourth dimension.

ANGELS OF YEAHMAN (95 LOST FILES  MiX )

After a bit of a pause, Andrea returns with an invigorated sense of funk and a bad case of scuffed shelltoes. A generation after Chicago House irreversibly infected the Northern club scene, Andrea soaks up and sweats out the latest footworking Chi-town developments with a distinctive melodic flourish and innate feel for the floor. 'Retail Juke' keenly latches on to that feeling of delirious suspension that marks the best productions from RP Boo, Roc, Nate or any of those agile young cats, matching their flighty rhythm programming toe-for-toe, while tweaking the vibes with a fine-cut pop sensibility. It opens up with an impatient metronome and sparkling Rhodes keys ushering in spasmodic sample edits and unregimented drums, honing that slow-fast thing that’s impossible to describe and so bizarrely effective. On the flip, 'Write-Off' sounds like an Ice Cream van taking a wrong turning and ending up wheel-deep in some hyperrealist dayglo forest without SatNav or a working sense of direction to hand. It finds that filigree balance of tension between rapid-fire sample textures, twinkling melodies and dragging bass undulations, keeping an implosive, centripetal sense of funk deep in the pocket and yet still quite melancholy in its own fidgety way.
